Abstract: An improved article of the type comprising one or more flexible fibrous layers wherein the fibers in each layer are arranged parallel or substantially parallel to one another along a common fiber direction with fibers in adjacent layers aligned at an angle with respect to the longitudinal fiber axis of the fibers contained in the layers.
Abstract: A flexible article of manufacture especially suitable for use as a ballistic resistant body armor which comprises a flexible substrate layer having a plurality of planar non-metallic bodies mechanically affixed to a surface thereof.
Abstract: The present invention is a fiber comprising cyanato group containing phenolic resin comprising repeating units of the formula: ##STR1## wherein p is 0 or an integer of one or more, q is O or an integer of 1 or more, X is a radical selected from the group consisting of: --CH.sub.2 --, --CO--, --SO.sub.2 --, ##STR2## and R is the same or different and is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl radicals. The fiber of the present invention can be made a phenolic triazine derived from the cyanato group containing phenolic resin.
Abstract: This invention relates to fiber surface treating agnets containing a pyromellitate nucleus which have fungicidal, anti-microbial and anti-static properties, and blends of such agents with other types of surface modifiers.
Abstract: A flexible article of manufacture especially suitable for use as a ballistic resistant body armor which comprises at least one substrate, said layers being a fibrous layer, and at least one layer having a plurality of metallic bodies sewn to at least one surface of said substrate layer.
Abstract: This invention relates to electrically conductive polymers comprised of conjugated backbone polymers doped with one or more non-oxidizing protonic acids.
Abstract: An improved article of the type comprising a plurality of flexible fibrous layers at least two of which are secured together by a securing means, said improvements comprising a securing means which comprises at least two adjacent paths wherein the distance between said paths is less than about 1/8 in.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a copolymer of a fluoromonomer having the formula R.sub.1 R.sub.2 C.dbd.CR.sub.3 F wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are selected from H and F, and R.sub.3 may be Cl when R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are F; and a vinyl monomer having the formula H.sub.2 C.dbd.CHR.sub.x, wherein R.sub.x is a radical having the formula --O.sub.2 CR.sub.y, wherein R.sub.y is a radical selected from CH.sub.3 and C.sub.2 H.sub.5.The resulting copolymer comprises fluorinated units having the formula (R.sub.1 R.sub.2 C--CR.sub.3 F) wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are selected from H and F, and R.sub.3 may be Cl when R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are F, and corresponding amounts of vinyl units having the formula (H.sub.2 C--CHR.sub.x), wherein R.sub.x is selected from --CH.sub.3 and C.sub.2 H.sub.5. In an alternate and preferred embodiment the copolymer is hydrolyzed so that R.sub.x becomes --OH.
