The unique design allows the device to be used directly in combination with explosives or pyrotechnics or with a variety of accessories. It can be used in conjunction with a standard safety and arming device or with a special blasting adapter for initiating electric caps, or in conjunction with a training adapter for initiating standard pyrotechnics. When used in conjunction with a blasting or training adapter, the device can be refurbished and reset by the user in the field. Furthermore, a self test feature is provided. A pality of fiber optic threads are disposed in a grid arrangement behind the target along the anticpated beam sensor line opposite the exposed surface of the target. Upon beam perforation of the target, the laser energy impinges upon the fiber optic threads causing them to produce optical signals and allowing them to behave as light pipes. Groups of these fiber optic threads are gathered together and optically coupled to photo-electrical transducers for generating electrical signals in response to the optical signals generated within the fibers. Patent number: 4137770Abstract: A silicon junction diode is used as one element of a resistance bridge to rm the temperature sensing element of an electronic thermostat. Current through the diode is maintained at approximately constant value so that the negative temperature coefficient characteristic of the diode can be utilized. The values of the fixed resistors in the bridge are selected so as to provide a null at a preselected temperature. Used in conjunction with a voltage comparator circuit having positive feedback, a digital control signal is provided whenever the temperature of the sensing element rises above the preselected null value.
