  • Patent number: 4365670
Abstract: Methods of sealing particular areas, including subterranean well formations, are provided wherein the methods utilize an isocyanate polymer suitable as a sealing agent having a controllable gelation time in the presence of water without formation of excess foam by using one or more typical di- or polyisocyanates with one or more alcoholic or acidic compounds and a particular catalyst namely, triethylene-diamine, Groups 3 and 4 metal-organic compounds or mixtures thereof. A particularly useful catalyst is tributyl titanate.

  • Patent number: 4340427
Abstract: A process for cementing adjacent a subterranean gas-containing zone, in which process a cement slurry containing a stabilized, dispersed gas is placed adjacent the zone. Sufficient gas is present in the cement slurry or is capable of being generated within the slurry to prevent the connate formation gas under pressure from passing into or around the cement prior to the time the cement has set up.

  • Patent number: 4335788
Abstract: Cement compositions which upon curing have high compressive strengths and are rapidly dissolved in acids are provided comprised of water, a metal halide or sulfate selected from the group consisting of magnesium, aluminum and zinc halides and sulfates, a metal oxide selected from the group consisting of magnesium, aluminum and zinc oxides and a metal carbonate selected from the group consisting of calcium and barium carbonates. Methods of using the cement compositions are also provided.
