Abstract: Support method and apparatus for providing a secure and stable method for a user/patient to transfer a body part, such as a foot, into and out of a bed independently, and thus enhance in-bed mobility. The support for the body part is by a rest member having an associated expandable member. The rest member is a platform configured to the body part being supported, and the expandable member is a bellows adhered to the platform and expandable by a compressor. In the method a body part is positioned on the rest member, which is expanded with the body part thereon.
Abstract: Method and apparatus providing a rest member having a support surface and a stand for the rest member, with the rest member having a plural multiplicity of apertures therein to permit the adjustment in height thereof with respect to the stand, which can take the form of an expandable member associated with the rest member and being contractable as well as expandable inwardly and outwardly and accompanied by means for inhibiting the separation of the rest member from stand after the rest member has been positioned on the stand.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for assisting transfer into and out of a bed by a handle for engagement by a person seeking to transfer into or out of a bed, with the handle positioned aside the bed, and accompanied by a member for counteracting torque exerted by the handle when a person is seeking to transfer into or out of a bed; the torque is counteracted by an elongated member associated at a right angle with respect to the handle and an elongated tube for positioning the handle under a mattress.
Abstract: A method of sterile needless vial access, utilized to transfer materials from one unit to another. The method utilizes a swab-able access port and a blunt cannula. The access port receives the blunt cannula to couple and aseptically transfer medical and body fluids. The swab-able access port permits disinfectant treatment before receipt of the blunt cannula to limit and prevent contamination of sterile fluids.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a housing having an end with an input having an entrance and an output and a probe integral with the housing extending from the output to beyond the end of the input. The probe has a passageway connected to the output. A spring-biased seal is disposed about the probe to seal the passageway and is depressible by an exterior member to expose the passageway. The extension of the probe beyond the end of the input permits the swabbing thereof before the depression of the seal.
Abstract: A back-up power system which can accommodate a standard electrical device that is operable from an alternating current power source when alternating current is available, but is operable by a direct-current to direct-current converter when alternating current is unavailable, the converter being powered by replaceable low voltage battery charged by the alternating current source, with the loss of alternating current being sensed to cause the disconnection of the alternating current source and connection to the low-voltage replaceable battery.
