  • Patent number: 4866938
Abstract: A hydraulic master cylinder piston carries a circumferential seal ring which allows recuperation flow valving. The floating seal has a reinforcing metal girdle which prevents radial expansion and axial crushing. The seal material resists extrusion and has an outer radius slightly greater than the radius of the circumferential girdle. A forward slotted bearing ring maintains the piston in alignment with the bore. During piston return, recuperation occurs through a path comprising the radial clearance between piston and floating seal ring and at least one slot or groove in the bearing ring. Upon full piston return, the seal is withdrawn from the master cylinder working chamber into a larger diameter bore communicating with the reservoir and thus allows relatively free make-up flow.

  • Patent number: 4802402
Abstract: A work cylinder having an internally-disposed, automatically-operated drain valve disposed in one or both ends of a housing having a cylinder bore formed therein. A reciprocally-movable piston divides the bore into first and second pressure chambers. A drain chamber formed in one or both ends has a movable plunger member disposed therein. A first passageway allows fluid from the pressure chamber to act on one surface of the plunger. A pilot valve is partially formed on a bottom portion of the plunger and opens when fluid pressure is exhausted from the adjacent pressure chamber. A bias spring acts on the plunger to prevent closing of the drain valve upon initial pressurization of the adjacent chamber. This initial pressurization assists in purging additional moisture from the chamber until a threshold level is exceeded to close the drain valve.

  • Patent number: 4689990
Abstract: The invention is an apparatus for the acquisition of speed of rotation and/or angle of rotation signals on a shaft, on which there is a pulse transmitter on the circumference of the joint and a sensor which measures the pulses produced by the pulse transmitter located on a pivot part, which defines a pivot axis, around which the shaft portions of a cardan shaft can be pivoted in relation to one another.

  • Patent number: 4678241
Abstract: An equalizer discharge valve for use on a railroad air brake system includes a valve housing having an equalizer chamber formed therein above a brake pipe chamber and separated by a piston, diaphragm configuration. The diaphragm is sealed on the outer circumference by the connection to the housing and on the inner circumference by the connection to the piston. A connecting passage formed in the piston has a check valve disposed therein such that fluid pressure can only flow from the equalizer chamber to the brake pipe chamber. An exhaust valve, disposed between the brake pipe chamber and an exhaust chamber, vents the brake pipe chamber when opened as corresponds to selected venting of the equalizer chamber fluid pressure. A back pressure chamber and piston configuration is formed above the equalizer chamber such that fluid pressure from the exhaust chamber can be communicated thereto to counterbalance the force on the piston exerted from the brake pipe side during an exhaust operation.

  • Patent number: 4627462
Abstract: A multiposition valve having a dynamic slide plate with at least one cavity is provided with a stationary plate intermediate such dynamic plate. The stationary plate has a plurality of through-bores for providing fluid connection to fluid passageways in the valve housing. The stationary plate can be inverted to selectively provide a variety of valve functions for any given dynamic valve plate position.

  • Patent number: 4600090
Abstract: In a disc brake, a brake lining support forms a brake ring from one or more support segments, each segment having a lining pad or pads attached to such segment so that the resulting force from frictional braking passes through the attachment device that non-rotatably supports the segment.

  • Patent number: 4525128
Abstract: A reciprocating, preferably a piston-type, exhauster adapted for mounting on an engine crankcase and having, on opposite sides of the piston, a high clearance volume inlet chamber and a low clearance volume exhaust chamber. The piston is operated by an engine driven cam acting on the piston rod which passes through the exhaust chamber and moves against a return spring in the inlet chamber. As the piston moves in the cylinder air is drawn from the inlet chamber through a non-return valve in the piston to the exhaust chamber and then is discharged directly into the engine crankcase.
