Patent number: 4948047Abstract: A passive dispenser of volatile liquid fragrance composition from a container thereof. The container has an orifice at its bottommost point and an isotatic hydrophobic polypropylene membrane covering the orifice. The membrane permits passage of the liquid fragrance composition therethrough in the liquid phase in order to enable the composition of the liquid transmitted through the membrane to be substantially the same as that of the liquid within the container.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1988Date of Patent: August 14, 1990Assignee: Drackett CompanyInventor: Anthony R. Zembrodt

Patent number: 4707865Abstract: A toilet tank dispenser having an inlet/outlet tube and including a valve which restricts water flow in one direction while not substantially restricting water flow in the opposite direction. The valve causes the water flowing into the inlet/outlet tube during the filling cycle to flow sufficiently slowly to create an air space in the tube. The air space becomes an air bubble in the top of the inlet/outlet tube during quiescent periods to isolate the dispenser contents from the tank.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1986Date of Patent: November 24, 1987Assignee: The Drackett CompanyInventors: Clifford J. Ludwig, Anthony D. Delia

Patent number: 4680444Abstract: A hairsetter designed to heat a plurality of hair rollers to a predetermined temperature is provided with a plurality of sockets each intended to receive a single hair roller having a pair of electrical plug members axially extending from one end of the roller. The plug members are tapered along substantially their entire length and are formed as extensions of parallel longitudinally extending heat sinks engaging the sides of a PTC resistance heating element within the hair roller. Each socket is provided with a pair of contact pins. The upper portion of each pin is accessible through the top of the socket and the lower portion thereof is in contact with an electric wire to conduct power to the pin. The contact pins are separated by diametrically opposed ribs which interact with the tapered plug members to cause the hair roller to be automatically rotated as it as inserted into the socket so as to cause the plug members to firmly engage the upper portion of the contact pins.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1985Date of Patent: July 14, 1987Assignee: Clairol IncorporatedInventors: Jorgen Skovdal, Daniel Santhouse, Borge Jensen, Vito Carlucci

Patent number: 4664288Abstract: A manually openable closure system for a container spout. The closure is provided with a pull tab extending below the closure and adjacent the spout surface. The closure is removable from the spout without the use of any auxiliary cutting or other tools. The closure is resilient and is provided with a top portion for sealing the spout orifice and for venting the interior of the container by being deformed by an excessive internal pressure to uncover the orifice thereby venting the interior of the container via the space between the cap and the spout.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1986Date of Patent: May 12, 1987Assignee: Clairol IncorporatedInventors: Joseph J. Pereira, Anthony D. Delia, Scott W. Miller

Patent number: 4654920Abstract: A scrubber attachment for being fixedly mounted to a wringer type sponge mop without the necessity for any extra, attaching hardware. The scrubber attachment carries a scrubber pad and is fixedly secured to the mop head at a predetermined angle. This combination yields a mop capable of both conventional sponge cleaning and of abrasively rubbing to effect further cleansing treatment of a surface without the risk of moving the scrubber out of operative position during use.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1986Date of Patent: April 7, 1987Assignee: The Drackett CompanyInventors: William J. O'Neil, Jr., Richard P. Burkhart

Patent number: 4625738Abstract: The present invention relates to a heated curling brush with bristles which are relatively tangle-free in use. The heated curling brush of the present invention is provided with bristles which are capable of transmitting heat to the hair while at the same time avoiding the undesirable tangling resulting from use of prior art brushes.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1984Date of Patent: December 2, 1986Assignee: Clairol IncorporatedInventors: Jorgen Skovdal, Loretta D. Goeller

Patent number: 4602146Abstract: A diffusion device is provided within or as an attachment to the nozzle of a hair dryer which provides a nearly constant air volume at varying velocities. A hair dryer improvement for varying the air flow output from the hair dryer nozzle. The improvement is a diffusion device which consists of a pair of vanes pivotally mounted downstream of the nozzle. Placement of the vanes in varying positions causes the output air flow to be either concentrated along the nozzle axis or diffused by causing varying portions of the air flow to be directed through the peripheral side wall of the diffusion device. Since the diffusion device offers very little obstruction to the air flow, the volume of air remains nearly constant for the varying diffuser vane positions.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1984Date of Patent: July 22, 1986Assignee: Clairol IncorporatedInventors: Ileana D. Barns, Raymond W. Kunz, James G. Montagnino, Herbert M. Morrison

Patent number: 4602143Abstract: A curling iron provided with an infrared radiation source within a hollow barrel for radiating infrared radiation within a predetermined band. The barrel is substantially transparent to radiation within the band emitted by the source. The curling iron is provided with a hair clip for retaining hair wound about the barrel, the clip also being substantially transparent to this infrared band. A fan is provided for blowing cooling air past the infrared source and through the barrel, the tip of the barrel being sufficiently perforated to pass this cooling air. The curling iron is further provided with a circuit for energizing the infrared source in a predetermined cyclical manner in order to maintain the temperature of the barrel within a predetermined range. A temperature sensor is further provided to sense the temperature of the barrel in order to activate the control circuit accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1984Date of Patent: July 22, 1986Assignee: Clairol IncorporatedInventors: William Mack, Daniel Santhouse

Patent number: 4584462Abstract: A hairsetter for electrically heating a plurality of flexible hair curlers includes a thermally insulated hollow container receiving therein a plurality of vertically disposed elongated flexible hair curlers arranged in a pair of rows. The curlers are heated by a heat sink core portion disposed between the curler rows and in heat conductive contact with the curlers. The heat sink core portion includes a flat electrical resistance heater plate sandwiched between two electrically insulating boards covered by two oppositely facing metallic heat sink members. The heat sink members each have a plurality of vertical channels receiving and contacting a respective one of curlers of a curler row for conducting heat to the curler from the heater plate. The rows of curlers are disposed in a tiered arrangement to facilitate removal of the heated curlers from the container through a top opening on the container closed by a hinged cover.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1984Date of Patent: April 22, 1986Assignee: Clairol IncorporatedInventor: Herbert M. Morrison
