Abstract: The present invention relates to a multilayer protective enclosure for protecting humans, animals or perishables from hazardous agents in the environment. The enclosure contains a porous adaptive membrane structure that has movable membranes with insertable protrusions. The structure can be made to change its gas, liquid or particulate permeability in response to surrounding environmental conditions. Hence, the enclosure is highly breathable in a non-hazardous environment but impermeable or only semipermeable in a hazardous environment.
Abstract: This invention relates to the synthesis and isolation of colloidal silver particles through the use of thermomorphic polymers and the resulting composition. It further relates to the use of the resulting composition in the preparation of inks for printing with silver-containing inks.

The block poly(trimethylene-ethylene ether) glycols can be prepared by the polycondensation of 1,3-propanediol reactant and polyethylene glycol reactant. The block poly(trimethylene-ethylene ether) glycols can be used in breathable membranes, synthetic lubricants, hydraulic fluids, cutting oils, motor oils, surfactants, spin-finishes, water-borne coatings, laminates, adhesives, packaging, films and foams, fibers and fabrics.
Abstract: Partially fluorinated amino acid derivatives are provided that are useful as organogelators and surface treatment materials to provide oil- and water- repellency properties to substrates. Also provided are composite materials comprising a porous support and a porous nanoweb. The porous nanoweb contains fibrous structures of about 10 nm to about 1000 nm effective average fiber diameter.

Abstract: Epoxy compositions exhibiting low viscosity in the uncured state and low coefficient of thermal expansion in the cured state are provided. Also provided are processes for making the epoxy compositions. The low dielectric constant compositions are well-suited for use in multi-layer printed circuit boards. The desired properties are achieved by employment of a bimodal distribution of nano-scale fillers in the epoxy compositions.

Abstract: Provided are liquid compositions suitable for use as immersion liquids in immersion lithography, and immersion lithography processes and apparatus using the compositions.
Abstract: Processes for reducing color in PO3G are provided. The processes include contacting PO3G with an activated carbon and then separating the PO3G from the activated carbon by, for example, filtration. The process provides PO3G having an APHA color less than that before contact with the absorbent. The processes are desirably used for polymers having a molecular weight of about 250 to about 5000.
Abstract: One embodiment of this invention is bis-cyclometalled electroluminescent complexes of iridium (III) according to Formula I. Another embodiment of this invention is electronic devices in which the active layer includes a bis-cyclometalled electroluminescent Ir(III) complex.

Abstract: The present invention relates to linear amine-functionalized poly(trimethylene ether) compositions, and processes to produce these compositions.
Abstract: Tetrasubstituted coronenes are provided. Also provided are electronic devices in which the active layer includes a tetrasubstituted coronene.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing lower-color polytrimethylene ether glycol, comprising contacting said polytrimethylene ether glycol, or its precursor reaction-mixture, with a hydride compound during at least one stage of the process of manufacture, or on the polytrimethylene ether glycol resulting form such process, such that the polytrimethylene ether glycol demonstrates a reduced color (as compared to using no hydride compound).
Abstract: Processes for preparing silicon-containing polytrimethylene homo- or copolyethers, wherein at least a portion of the polymer end groups are silicon-containing end groups, are provided.
Abstract: This invention provides membrane-mediated electropolishing (MMEP) processes for polishing and/or planarizing metal work pieces using topographically patterned membranes. The processes can be used for both pure metals and alloys, and provide advantages over conventional electropolishing processes and known MMEP processes using smooth membranes. This invention also provides a cathode half-cell and an apparatus useful in membrane-mediated electropolishing processes. The invention also provides processes for electroengraving and electromachining topographic patterns, holes and/or grooves into the surface of a metal work piece.

Abstract: Provided are processes for the production of titanium dioxide from ilmenite. In these processes, ilmenite is digested with aqueous trimethylammonium hydrogen oxalate. Iron from the ilmenite precipitates as a hydrated iron oxalate and is removed by filtering, leaving a titanium-rich solution. The titanium-rich solution can be further processed to form titanium dioxide.
