Patent number: 8225439Abstract: A convertible sofa-bed which is easy to convert between a sofa configuration and a bed configuration is provided. From a sofa configuration, a buttock-foot member may be pulled outward. Simultaneously, a head rest member and back rest member which are initially at a generally vertical position are traversed to a generally horizontal position. When the buttock-foot member is fully traversed outward (i.e., extended position), the head rest member, back rest member and the buttock-foot member are generally substantially co-planar and generally horizontal. This provides a firm bed surface upon which a person may comfortably sleep. From the bed configuration, head rest member and the back rest member may be buckled to allow the buttock-foot member to be pushed inward. The buttock-foot member is then pushed fully inward (i.e., retracted position) until the head rest member and the back rest member are in the generally vertical position.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2011Date of Patent: July 24, 2012Inventors: Joseph Cabrera, Louis Rodriguez

Patent number: 7534320Abstract: A press pad for bonding substrates into a radio-frequency and/or intermediate-frequency module. The module has a plurality of channels, each of which has an adhesive film for bonding the substrate. The press pad has a pad body conformal to the substrate and pairs of lateral protrusions extending from central axes of opposing surfaces of the pad body. The protrusions are in the forms of semicircular bumps or fins extending perpendicular to the opposing surfaces. Therefore, the lateral extent of the press pad within the channel is minimized, such that the misalignment and inclination of the press pad is minimized. Further, the lateral protrusions are fabricated from material operative to resist lateral pressure, such that deformation of the press pad caused by lateral pressure is also prevented. Therefore, pressure gradient and pressure loss are prevented.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2005Date of Patent: May 19, 2009Assignee: Northrop Grumman CorporationInventor: Lawrence J. Maher

Patent number: 7381559Abstract: A container is provided for cell growth by artificial cultivation of selected biological material in a growth liquid for use in an oscillating incubator. The container has a circular bottom with rounded corners joining a sidewall that is inclined at an angle toward a longitudinal axis of the container to define a container volume. The bottom has six equally spaced baffles extending inward from the corners and upward toward a large diameter opening of the container centered on the longitudinal axis. The baffles have a triangular cross-sectional shape with an included angle of about 28–40°, and a height measured parallel to the longitudinal axis of about 15–25% of the usable container volume. The baffles end before the longitudinal axis. The container and baffles are blow molded of a polymer suitable for blow molding. An air permeable filter is placed over the container opening, with the filter having an adhesive on one side to stick to the container.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2004Date of Patent: June 3, 2008Assignee: Scientific Plastic Products, Inc.Inventors: Samuel A. Patent number: 6997772Abstract: An interactive soft toy with a light emitting diode device mounted within the soft toy. The light emitting diode device has a translucent front cover and translucent sheet to which a graphic pattern is applied. The light emitting diode device is operative to display a pattern. When the pattern of the light emitting diode panel is illuminated, the graphic pattern is overshadowed thereby. The on/off status of the light emitting diode units can be controlled by a manual input device, an infrared signal, or an audio signal. The light emitting diode device further has a speaker for generating a sound effect corresponding to the pattern displayed by the light emitting diode device.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2002Date of Patent: February 14, 2006Inventor: Peter Sui Lun Fong

Patent number: 6941776Abstract: A locking case is provided including a base portion and a lid portion rotatably engaged to the base portion. A locking mechanism is mounted on the lid portion and extends therethrough. The locking mechanism includes a cam member having first and second surfaces, and being rotatable to a locked position in response to operation of the locking mechanism. A catch is mounted to the base portion and is disposed proximate the cam first surface when the cam is in the locked position. A reinforcing bracket is mounted to the lid. The reinforcing bracket has a reinforcing flange disposed proximate the cam second surface when the cam is disposed in the locked position.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2003Date of Patent: September 13, 2005Inventor: Peter Jakubowski

Patent number: 6849388Abstract: A method for providing self-aligned contact pads along an edge face of stacked electronics utilizes reflected light from the metal contact leads to define their location. A thin layer of light sensitive polymer is applied over the edge face, at which incident light is directed. A solvent developer is applied which dissolves the polymer where the reflected light passed. In a two-pass technique reflected light destroys an inhibitor in the polymer, and that portion of the layer is dissolved by a developer to delineate voids for contact pads. In a wavefront cancellation technique reflected light is 180° out of phase with the first pass of light, the combination not cross-linking molecules in the polymer, and that portion of the layer is dissolved to delineate voids for contact pads.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2002Date of Patent: February 1, 2005Assignee: Northrop Grumman CorporationInventor: Stewart A. Patent number: 6183448Abstract: A needleless injection site comprising a housing which defines a fluid passage. Disposed within the housing is a reseal member which includes an openable and closable aperture, and an expandable and collapsible reservoir. The reseal member normally resides in a first position within the housing wherein the aperture is closed and the reservoir is collapsed. The reseal member is deformable such that the application of compressive pressure thereto will facilitate the movement thereof within the housing to a second position wherein the reservoir is expanded and the aperture is opened and placed into communication with the fluid passage and the reservoir. The removal of the compressive pressure from the reseal member will facilitate the resilient return thereof to the first position wherein the aperture is closed and the reservoir is collapsed. The collapse of the reservoir is adapted to prevent the creation of a vacuum within the fluid passage when the reseal member resiliently returns to the first position.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1997Date of Patent: February 6, 2001Inventor: Bruno Franz P.
