  • Patent number: 4635170
Abstract: A reflector for an electric light has a first reflector member with a socket for the light bulb and a second reflector member positioned generally forward of the socket. In one aspect of the invention a first angular segment of the first reflector defines curved reflector means for reflecting light from the light in the socket into a collimated beam. The remaining angular segment of the first reflector defines a transversely directed, curved reflector for focusing light from the light bulb back to the filament in the light bulb to increase the filament temperature. In another aspect of the invention, the first, angular segment of the second reflector member defines a transparent partition, with the partition carrying a plurality of transparent ridges of triangular cross section. The ridges are circumferentially disposed at different radii about an extension of the central axis of the socket. Thus light from the light bulb in the socket is diffracted by the ridges into the collimated beam.

  • Patent number: 4631007
Abstract: A pressure pump for fluids having a pressure member 12, 12a of generally circular periphery, means 14, 14a for moving the pressure member in an orbital motion about an axis of rotation, and a sleeve member 16, 16a made of a pair of hinged jaws 22, 22a positionable about the pressure member and spaced for receiving and retaining flexible tubing 18, 18a in an annular space between the pressure member and the sleeve member with the tubing surrounding the pressure member for pumping of fluids through the tubing. • Patent number: 4621442
Abstract: A multilayer label comprises a front sheet having an adhesive-coated side. A multilayer folded leaflet member adheres to a portion of the adhesive coated side in a position spaced from the ends of the front sheet. A first line of tearing weakness is defined on the front sheet, with the folded leaflet defining a short-folded front layer adhering to the adhesive-coated side. Thus an edge of the front layer lies spaced from parallel edges of the folded leaflet, and some of the adhesive-coated side adheres to the folded layer of the leaflet member adjacent the front layer. Tearing of the first line of weakness exposes the leaflet member, a portion of which may preferably be removable by tearing a second line of weakness formed in the leaflet member.

  • Patent number: 4596551
Abstract: A tubing clamp for firmly retaining flexible tubing without occluding flow through it and for forcing the tube into straight and open configuration. The tubing clamp rests on a platform member and comprises a pair of jaws positioned in opposed relation to each other and pivotally mounted on the platform member to be pivotally movable between open and closed positions. Facing surfaces of the jaws defines recesses that together define a tube port in the closed position of substantially the outer diameter of the tubing intended for retention therein. The tube has a parting line, and the jaws also define overlapping members at the parting line to prevent pinching of tubing occupying the tube port in the parting line as the jaws are moved to closed position.

  • Patent number: 4573980
Abstract: An elastic port protector closing the end of a tubular port, typically on a peritoneal dialysis solution or parenteral solution bag. The port protector defines an outer tubular section having inner and outer ends, and with an inner diameter which is less than the outer diameter of the tubular port on which it is intended to reside. An inner tubular section is connected to the outer tubular section at the outer end and is capable of occupying the bore of the outer tubular end in telescoping relation thereto. The inner tubular section has an outer diameter greater than the inner diameter of the tubular port, to fit into the bore of the tubular port in sealing relation. Handle means is carried on the outer tubular section to aid in removal of the port protector.

  • Patent number: 4541829
Abstract: Apparatus for removing a first connector from a second connector and reconnecting the first connector with the third connector by mechanical means so that the visually impaired can do it, without touching critical areas where sterility should be retained. The apparatus finds particular use in the field of peritoneal dialysis where the catheter or set connecting to the patient must be disconnected from one container of solution and reconnected to another under the most aseptic conditions possible. A platform is provided having track means for permitting controlled movement of a first retention means between a first position, permitting disconnection between the first and second connectors, and a second position permitting connection between the first and third connectors when the first, second, and third connectors are respectively carried in the first, second, and third retention means.

  • Patent number: 4521212
Abstract: In a parenteral solution administration set, the porous hydrophilic filter member which can control the liquid level and prevent the passage of gas downwardly through the set can be located adjacent the lower end of the drip chamber to control flow out of the lower end and to be submerged in liquid held in the drip chamber during operation thereof. Significant advantages are obtained. Particularly, the set becomes conveniently usable with parenteral solution pumps. Also the drip chamber may contain an elongated member projecting inwardly of the lower end of the chamber and carrying indicia along its length to indicate liquid volume in the chamber as a function of liquid level.
