Abstract: A non-metal controlled high resistance electric cable formed by wrapping a center strength member of insulating microporous polytetrafluoroethylene with a narrow strip of conductive carbon-filled microporous polytetrafluoroethylene and jacketing the wrapped strand with an insulating microporous polytetrafluorethylene or polyester jacket. The microporous polytetrafluorethylene layers are preferably sintered and the optional polyester layer is preferably fused.
Abstract: A filter composite is made of a porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and a fabric. The PTFE and fabric are bonded by an adhesive. The adhesive is prevented from penetrating the fabric by employing a coating of an oil and water-repellent material to the surface of the fabric adjacent the adhesive.

Abstract: A porous polytetrafluoroethylene resin material which comprises sintered or irradiated fluororesin powder inside the porous spaces of a continuously porous polytetrafluoroethylene resin base material.
Abstract: An optical fiber cable having a loop of strong braided sheath anchored within it to provide terminal strength and a protective tube surrounding the optical fibers of the cable as they exit the cable through a gap in the sheath for termination. The protective tube allows retention of signal quality of optical fibers by preventing damage to coating layers on the fibers passing through the braided sheath which may be under high tension.
Abstract: A shielded impedance-controlled insulation displacement contact connector and an assembly of the connector with a shielded ribbon cable and a PCB, having properties equivalent to those of terminated coaxial cables as to shielding from cable to PCB, impedance matching of connector to cable, signal-to-signal isolation of signal conductors, shield grounding from cable to PCB, and isolation of each conductor and each tine in the termination area of the connector.

Abstract: A crush, kink, and torque resistant, flexible coaxial cable having a closely spaced, spiralled rigid metal wire layer between the outer conductor of the coaxial transmission line and the outer jacket of the cable. Small size light weight, good flexibility with minimum spring-back and excellent crush resistance are provided together with excellent kinking, and torque resistance. This eliminates the need for external ruggedization to protect the electrical properties of the cable.
Abstract: Coaxial electric cable and simplified process for making it, wherein large gauge center conductor is wrapped with extruded strands of porous expanded polytetrafluoroethylene, drawn through a die to reduce diameter and voids, tape-wrapped with porous expanded polytetrafluoroethylene, sintered, and shielding and extruded jacketing applied.
Abstract: A branching connector for connecting a shielded bus cable with shielded branching cables by IDC connectors, the cables containing a multiplicity of insulated wires within each shield.
Abstract: A hydrophilic, semipermeable membrane comprises a microporous PTFE membrane having the internal and external surfaces of the membrane structure coated by a complex formed by the combination of a hydrophilic polymer which adheres to the membrane structure and a complexing agent, the complex rendering the microporous PTFE membrane substantially hydrophilic and protein affinitive. The preferred hydrophilic polymariz/polyvinyl alcohol, and the complexing agent is preferably a dibasic inorganic acid, such as boric acid, or a salt thereof. Such hydrophilic, semipermeable membranes are particularly suitable for protecting the target area of a body fluid diagnostic test strip, and a cell culture support members. Methods of forming the membranes are also described.
Abstract: A conductively jacketed coaxial cable which provides continuous electrical contact from a drain wire through a metal-coated tape wrapped shield, a semiconductive adhesive layer applied to the tape on the reverse side from the metal coating, to a semiconductive jacket.
Abstract: Elastomeric composite fabrics are described which have a layered construction and are made of a microporous polymeric membrane, a water vapor permeable polymer, and an elastomeric thermoplastic nonwoven material. The elastomeric composite fabrics provide barrier properties with water vapor permeability and find utility in articles of wearing apparel and other articles which conform about another object.
