  • Patent number: 6644527
Abstract: The strap pack carriers of the invention can be worn as a sash. Strap pack personal article carriers, e.g., form a loop adapted to stably conform to the body of the wearer to provide easy access pouches up in front of the body. Counter weights can be mounted to help stabilize the carrier against unequal front to back loads of articles.

  • Patent number: 6613513
Abstract: Nucleotides and nucleotide analogs are used in various sequencing by incorporation/sequencing by synthesis methods. Nucleotide analogs comprising 3′-blocking groups are used to provide reversible chain-termination for sequencing by synthesis. Typical blocking groups include phosphate groups and carbamate groups. Fluorescent nucleotides are used to perform sequencing by synthesis with detection by incorporation of the fluorescently labeled nucleotide, optionally followed by photobleaching and intercalating dyes are used to detect addition of a non-labeled nucleotide in sequencing by synthesis with detection by intercalation. Microfluidic devices, including particle arrays, are used in the sequencing methods.

  • Patent number: 6566777
Abstract: An elastic wave actuator and method to convert electrical energy to mechanical energy with alternate high speed or high torque output options. The actuator comprises a cylindrical rotor flexible shell rotatably mounted coaxially within a stator. A radially disposed series of electromagnetic poles in the stator is energized to generate a rotating electromagnetic field that attracts and deforms the flexible shell to engage the frictional surface of the stator at points of contact that progress around the stator. The circumference of the flexible shell being different from the circumference of the inner stator surface, the rotor rotates at a rate proportionate to the difference between the shell and stator circumferences and much slower than the electromagnetic field. An output shaft coupled to the rotor flexible shell will provide high torque low speed power output.

  • Patent number: 6302202
Abstract: An inflatable plug assembly suitable for use in the plugging of boreholes. The plug assembly having quick and slow inflation working modes selectable by the operator. The slow inflation working mode is obtained by orientation of the plug assembly such that the gas phase of the expandable working fluid is released on actuation by the operator. The quick inflation working mode is obtained by orientation of the plug assembly such that liquid phase expandable working fluid is released on actuation by the operator.
