  • Patent number: 8161697
Abstract: A studless load bearing panel wall system includes an assembly of bamboo based load bearing panels. The panels may be centrally milled along all edges suitable for accepting spline brackets along the vertical edges thereby constructing wall faces. Channels along the top and bottom edges accept two panels to form a studless wall having an inner and outer panel. The panels may be fastened to the splines and channels by means of screw fasteners. Bamboo based load bearing panels comprising layers formed from pressed bamboo strips bonded with layers of softwood veneers provide high load bearing strength while being dimensionally similar to conventional plywood. Non-load bearing alternate embodiments of the bamboo based panels in combination with similar spline brackets and channels are utilized to construct studless interior walls.

  • Patent number: 8151666
Abstract: The present invention is a handle grip comprising a twist throttle with an integrated hydraulic master cylinder directed to vehicle throttle and brake or clutch controls and suitable for mounting and use on motorcycle handle bar wherein the operator selectively twists the handle grip in one direction to retract a throttle cable and in the opposite direction to release the throttle cable and activate a hydraulic master cylinder capable of providing hydraulic fluid to a hydraulically activated mechanism on the vehicle. A helical cam surface within the twist grip mechanism guides centrally positioned throttle and hydraulic cam followers within an inner stem cylinder bore forcing the followers longitudinally within the bore to activate the hydraulics or throttle. The pitch of the helical cam surface defines the distance of grip rotation and the twisting torque required to move the followers predetermined distances within the stem bore to provide sufficient activation force.

  • Patent number: 8093869
Abstract: A ferromagnetic material having non-zero magnetoelasticity, and/or nonzero magnetostriction is driven with vibratory mechanical energy at a frequency producing at least one resonant vibratory mode, by coupling a source of vibratory energy to the ferromagnetic structure. The ferromagnetic material threads at least one conductive wire or wire coil, and couples to at least one source of magnetic induction, and provides an electrical power output driven by the magnetic induction. The origin of vibratory energy and the site or sites of magnetic induction are situated at distinct locations, separated by a specific distance not less than ? the fundamental acoustic wavelength. Various combinations of acoustic wavelength, ferromagnetic material type, and source of vibration produce independent transfer coefficients between acoustic and electromagnetic energy which are either positive, zero, or negative.

  • Patent number: 7830065
Abstract: A solid-state electrical generator including at least one permanent magnet, magnetically coupled to a ferromagnetic core provided with at least one hole penetrating its volume; the hole(s) and magnet(s) being placed such that the hole(s) penetrating the ferromagnetic core's volume intercept flux from the permanent magnet(s) coupled into the ferromagnetic core. A first wire coil is wound around the ferromagnetic core for the purpose of moving the coupled permanent magnet flux within the ferromagnetic core. A second wire is routed through the hole(s) penetrating the volume of the ferromagnetic core, for the purpose of intercepting this moving magnetic flux, thereby inducing an output electromotive force. A changing voltage applied to the first wire coil causes coupled permanent magnet flux to move within the core relative to the hole(s) penetrating the core volume, thus inducing electromotive force along wire(s) passing through the hole(s) in the ferromagnetic core.

  • Patent number: 7396027
Abstract: The self-braking wheelbarrow of the present invention comprises a wheelbarrow bin assembly mounted so as to pivot relative to an undercarriage assembly whereby the bin assembly interferes with the wheels on the undercarriage assembly causing a friction on the tread of the wheel and restricting the rotation of the wheel. In normal usage the undercarriage assembly is secured to the wheelbarrow bin assembly by securing latches. Braking is accomplished by selectively releasing securing latches, thereby permitting the wheelbarrow to pivot, and lifting the handles as if to move the wheelbarrow. The braking force applied to the tread on the wheel is proportional to the bin load thereby resulting in higher braking force with higher bin loads.

  • Patent number: 7231868
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for wine pomace extraction from wine processing tanks in a manner so as to minimize maceration of the wine pomace so as not to taint wine entrained within the pomace. In the present invention, wine pomace is mechanically transported out the processing tank by a conveyor means. Wine pomace is guided into the collecting path of the conveyor means by a mechanical sweeper attached to the conveyor means. In a preferred embodiment, a conveyor with sweeper wing attachments is mounted on a portable cart. The invention is positioned into the processing tank through an entry portal and secured to a tank containing pomace. The conveyor transports pomace to a receiver bin until the majority of pomace is extracted. Sweeper wings are deployed to guide remaining pomace into the collecting path of the conveyor.
