  • Patent number: 8209064
Abstract: A mobile target assembly for use in small arms practice includes an armor-protected automotive unit with remote control for movement through a target area. Further, the target assembly includes a plurality of repairable/replaceable façades, wherein a selected façade is mounted on the automotive unit. For the present invention, the façade is formed as a land vehicle body and is constructed for intentional destruction by the small arms fire. Importantly, the armor protection provides survivability for the automotive unit in response to small arms fire.

  • Patent number: 8196882
Abstract: A movable pole support includes an upper block and a lower block, each formed with a pole-receiving bore. The blocks are separated by a number of extension posts that maintain the blocks in a parallel position and spaced-apart to define a gap. The gap is sized to accept the edge of a table or counter, and the lower block is equipped with a locking screw that may be threaded into the lower block to secure the movable pole support onto a table or counter. The upper and lower blocks may be formed with a receiving groove shaped to receive a raised table rim, or a lower lip edge. A damage-resistant pad may be provided on any table-contacting surface to avoid damage to the table or counter being used. The movable pole support may also have a pole set screw insertable into the upper block to secure a pole securely within the pole-receiving bore.

  • Patent number: 8038313
Abstract: The present invention includes a skate board having a deck, a pair of trucks mounted beneath the deck and equipped with wheels. The deck is equipped with a plurality of light emitting devices, such as LEDs, which are mounted to the deck in a distinct pattern. The LEDs are in electrical connection with an energy source, such as a rechargeable battery. In a preferred embodiment, the rechargeable battery is mounted into the deck in a removable pack which can be charged without removing it from the deck. A microcontroller may be incorporated which provides for the selective illumination of the light emitting devices, and which may pulse, flicker, or create other aesthetically pleasing illumination patterns.

  • Patent number: 7990710
Abstract: A data center inside a shipping container having a lower plenum and an upper plenum in its interior. Heated air in the upper plenum exits therefrom into a plurality of heat exchangers adjacent thereto. Air cooled by the heat exchangers travels toward and enters the lower plenum. The data center includes a plurality of carriages each having an equipment receiving portion located between an open bottom portion in open communication with the lower plenum, and an open top portion in open communication with the upper plenum. Fans inside each of the carriages draw cooled air up from the lower plenum into the open bottom portion of the carriage, blow the cooled air up through the equipment receiving portion thereby cooling any computing equipment received therein, and vent the cooled air through the open top portion into the upper plenum.

  • Patent number: 7308824
Abstract: A thermal dispersion flow meter with chronometric monitor for fluid leak detection includes an ambient temperature RTD sensor and a flow rate RTD sensor which are configured to sense the temperature of a fluid in a conduit, and then monitor the flow of that fluid through the conduit. The fluid flow RTD sensor is incorporated into a Wheatstone bridge circuit which is used to provide increased sensitivity to the outputs of the RTD sensors. Based upon the ambient temperature sensor readings, the flow rate RTD sensor may be adjusted to optimize the operation of the system to detect leaks, and on certain conditions, a controller may close a supply line valve to avoid flooding of a structure.

  • Patent number: 7270076
Abstract: A flag pole mounted unfurling device is installed on a flagpole and rotates to minimize the unwanted furling of the flag. The device includes a lower swivel, an upper swivel, and a baton that extends between the lower swivel and the upper swivel to retain the two swivels in alignment and properly separated. The upper swivel and lower swivel are free to rotate around the axis of the pole while the baton serves to couple the upper and lower swivels together, both rotationally and longitudinally. The entire assembly is longitudinally retained on the pole by an upper collar and a lower collar and minimizes the unwanted furling of a flag through ‘dynamic instability.

  • Patent number: 7190509
Abstract: Optically controlled micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) is disclosed. In one embodiment, a MEMS device may include a rotatable mirror having an optical sensor that is in electrical communication with the rotatable mirror via an associated electrode. Electrical potential may be supplied to an appropriately configured optical sensor so that a variable range of voltages may be supplied to the rotatable mirror. In operation, an optical control beam may be directed onto the optical sensor where it may be sampled to determine its optical characteristics (e.g., optical wavelength, light intensity, position, polarization, duty cycle, etc.) The optical sensor may then supply voltage to the rotatable mirror based on the determined optical characteristics of the optical control beam, causing the rotatable mirror to rotate about one or more axes.
