    Abstract: This invention relates to a novel process for producing artemisinin from emisinic acid. The artemisinic acid is reduced to dihydroartemisinic acid by reduction of the exocyclic methylene group. The dihydroartemisinic acid is then oxidized in two successive steps to form artemisinin.
