Patent number: 6835484Abstract: Apparatus for cooling a fuel cell stack. The cooling system uses vaporization cooling of the fuel stack and supersonic vapor compression of the vaporized coolant to significantly increase the temperature and pressure of the liquid coolant flowing through a heat exchanger. By increasing the heat rejection temperature of the coolant delivered to the heat exchanger, the heat transfer area of the heat exchanger can be reduced and the mass flow rate of coolant can also be reduced. The increased fluid pressure is used to circulate the coolant through the cooling system, thereby eliminating the circulation pump associated with conventional systems.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2002Date of Patent: December 28, 2004Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventor: Gerald W. Patent number: 6755669Abstract: Recesses are located along an elongated elastomeric member. Electrical contacts are associated with the elastomeric member in registration with the recesses. The elastomeric member expands or compresses along its length to receive one of the closely spaced plates in each of the plurality of recesses and to thereby register the electrical contacts with a corresponding contact point on the plates. The elastomeric strip is confined under compression between two adjacent members which may be parts of two plates or of a single plate. The adjacent members define a recess, including locking protrusions, adapted to resist removal of the connector from within the retention recess unless the elongated elastomeric strip is compressed. An associated method optionally includes allowing the compressed elastomeric strip to push against adjacent members to generate a force which pushes the contact points against the one of the closely spaced plates.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2002Date of Patent: June 29, 2004Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Carl M. Patent number: 5801335Abstract: A first electrical insulation substrate having a pin and a second electrical insulation substrate having a hole formed therethrough for receiving the pin is provided. The pin is designed to control and limit the flow of the pin material to an upper portion of the pin during a cold forming process to avoid cracking the pin. This is accomplished by making a lower portion of the pin resistant to flow and the upper portion of the pin susceptible to flow. The lower portion of the pin may have a greater cross sectional area than the upper portion thus making the lower portion resistant to flow and the upper portion of the pin susceptible to flow.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1997Date of Patent: September 1, 1998Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Stacy Ann Brussalis, Joseph Howard Gladd, Aaron Dillon Monroe

Patent number: 5122929Abstract: A technique for providing controlled adhesion of a portion of a printed conductor to a circuit board employs an inhibitor layer between the circuit board and the portion of the printed conductor where such controlled adhesion is desired. The inhibitor layer is formed using a mixture of finely divided alumina powder and a glass frit, which are both suspended in an organic screening agent. An electrical module connected between controllably adherent conductor portions is thereby able to move to relative mechanical stresses.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1989Date of Patent: June 16, 1992Assignee: Delco Electronics CorporationInventors: Ponnusamy Palanisamy, Dwadasi H. Patent number: 4971841Abstract: Decorative, highly reflective, adherent coatings suitable for automotive finishes comprise a base coat layer and a top coat layer. The base coat layer comprises a film-forming agent, leafing aluminum flake and, optionally, one or more colored pigmenting agents. The top coat layer comprises a transparent film-forming agent and an acidic adhesion promoting agent effective to inhibit delamination of the coating system. Optionally an alkylamine/fatty ester stabilizing agent is added to the base coat composition to stabilize the composition against deleafing during storage.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1989Date of Patent: November 20, 1990Assignee: BASF CorporationInventors: Sol Panush, James M.
