  • Patent number: 5845685
Abstract: A bag filler consisting of a single tubular member has a peripheral portion removed from one end thereof to form a hand grip while an opposing peripheral portion at the same end then forms a scoop, has its other end inserted into the open end of a bag to be filled, and the bag at both its ends is then turned about and within the associated ends of the tubular member so that an operator may with one hand hold both the open end of the bag and the hand grip of the tubular member for guiding the bag and bag filler into engagement with material from which the bag is to be filled, while the operator's other hand holds the bag and other end of the tubular member to propel the bag and bag filler.

  • Patent number: 5814018
Abstract: A needle point cover assembly for securely covering and protecting the needle point after a syringe has been used includes a cover in the form of an elongated hollow member that is open at one end for receiving the needle therein, and at its other end is mostly enclosed by an end wall having a hole through which the needle can pass. A lid encloses the otherwise open end of the cover member. The lid has a hole through which the needle may pass so that the needle may extend through both the lid hole and the hole in the end wall. When the syringe is being used to make an injection, the needle point projects through the hole in the end wall. After an injection has been made and the syringe is ready for disposal, a manually actuable extensible frame slides the cover to where its end wall is beyond the extremity of the needle point.

  • Patent number: 5743750
Abstract: An electrical connector utilizing a circuit board assembly for providing straight-through electrical interconnection of data line pairs between two jacks, and for providing breakout terminals. The layout of the electrical connector is such that common mode rejection is improved and cross-talk between data line pairs is minimized. The electrical connector has a circuit board with conductors located on both the bottom and top surfaces of the circuit board. The conductors are serially coupled to test pads to form a straight-through connection between pin openings located at opposite ends of the circuit board. The test pads are located so that the pads representing data line pairs are adjacent one another. Location of the test pads allows the conductors representing data line pairs to be located in a close parallel relationship for at least part of the way along the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5740909
Abstract: A sharps container has a receptacle, cover and tray and provides an improved locking mechanism to resist unauthorized tampering, as well as hermetically sealed construction to prevent any leakage of fluids from the container. The rotating tray provides an escapement mechanism for hands-free disposal of sharps through biasing the offset balanced tray into an open, receiving position to receive new items and deposit them into the interior of the container, and then returning to a nearly closed position. A locking mechanism is also provided to rotate the tray into a locking position thereby permanently closing the container and displacing the locking mechanism into the container interior so that the top surface of the locking mechanism is flush with the adjacent exterior container surface.

  • Patent number: 5725422
Abstract: An auto body buffing and grinding machine has a fixed handle with a trigger mechanism, a surface with threaded opening for attachment of an adjustable handle, and an adjustable handle that is quickly and easily attached, adjusted, or detached. The adjustable handle has two angularly adjustable mechanisms working in mutually perpendicular planes, each being secured by a hand operable nut. One attachment mechanism works by insertion from the outside of the threaded opening and then the tightening of its associated nut against the surface surrounding the opening. The other attachment mechanism works by securing parallel plates with roughened surfaces together, and includes a spring normally urging the roughened surfaces of the plates apart. The plates are rotatable by more than ninety degrees.

  • Patent number: 5695053
Abstract: A storage case for a flat circular member such as a compact disc includes a plastic box that has top and bottom walls and a front end which is open so that the flat circular member may be inserted into the box between the top and bottom walls. A spring member inside the box adjacent its rear wall has one part that is fixedly secured to the box, and a movable part that when released can directly engage the peripheral edge of the flat circular member. The movable part of the spring member is normally stored in a retracted position behind a rib that extends inwardly from the top wall of the box. The top wall has a flexible portion behind the rib which is downardly depressible for releasing the movable part of the spring member so that it will then engage the compact disc and eject it from the open front end of the box.

  • Patent number: 5669398
Abstract: A hair styling method utilizes an elongated flexible mold member having hollow end portions, two elongated rigid handle members each more than half the length of the mold member, with each of the elongated rigid handle members having an inner end portion and an outer handle end. The inner end portion of each of the elongated rigid handle members is inserted into a corresponding end portion of the mold member so that the elongated flexible mold member may then be bent into a generally U-shaped configuration and the handle ends of the elongated rigid handle members then occupy a generally parallel relationship in close proximity to each other. The outer handle ends of the elongated handle members have an interfitting relationship so that they may be placed in that interfitting relationship and thereby draw the outer end portions of the flexible mold towards each other.

  • Patent number: 5627458
Abstract: A low power amplifier system contains a number of amplifier stages, each having a control terminal, and a bias circuit parameter that can be measured as a voltage. A monolithic integrated circuit includes a plurality of bias control amplifiers, one for each of the amplifier stages. A positive supply voltage is fed into the integrated circuit, and in response thereto a negative supply voltage is generated, both voltages being then applied to each of the bias control amplifiers. A voltage feedback signal indicative of the bias current in each one of the respective external amplifier circuits is supplied to the corresponding one of the bias control amplifiers. Each bias control amplifier is then operable to compare the received voltage feedback signal with a reference voltage derived from the positive supply voltage and/or the negative supply voltage, for producing an error signal indicative of an error in the bias current in the respective external amplifier stage, and also for amplifying that error signal.

  • Patent number: 5603404
Abstract: A sharps container having a receptacle, cover and tray and providing an improved locking mechanism to resist unauthorized tampering. The locking mechanism also incorporates a means to rotate the tray into a locking position thereby closing the container. When the locking mechanism is actuated, the container is permanently closed and the locking mechanism itself is displaced into the container interior so that the top surface of the locking mechanism is flush with the adjacent exterior container surface. The present invention also provides for hands-free disposal of sharps through the use of an offset balanced tray biased into an open, receiving position. The receptacle section is designed to be stackable for more efficient packaging and shipment. The container also incorporates viewing windows to permit visual inspection of the container interior to properly determine when the container full and ready for disposal. The container is also designed to be attached to a wall through the use of mounting brackets.
