Abstract: The separator has a vane assembly made up of a number of corrugated vanes that are oriented with respect to each other so as to provide serpentine paths for the gas stream therethrough. As the gas stream flows through the serpentine paths, it changes direction and liquid in the gas stream impacts the surfaces of the vanes. The upstream section of the vane assembly has roughened surfaces to decrease the surface tension of the liquid, thereby causing the liquid to coalesce. The downstream section of the vane assembly has smooth surfaces so as to increase the surface tension of the liquid. Thus, the coalesced liquid flows from the roughened surfaces to the smooth surfaces where the liquid forms beads and drains by gravity.
Abstract: There is provided a light for net type games, whether they be court type games, such as volleyball, or table games, such as ping pong. The light is positioned adjacent to the end of the net and may be mounted to the net supporting structure or pole or mounted directly to the table in the case of a ping pong table. The light is positioned laterally of the playing field at a level that is above the net so that light is directed onto the playing surface and onto the net.

Abstract: The apparatus includes a fluid suspended, inner member, which has printed upon it a series of position bull's eyes, which are connected by a path printed on the inner member. The inner member is contained within a transparent, watertight outer housing, which has a sighting marking printed upon it. The device is attached to the user's head in a manner such that when the user moves his head, the outer member can move relative to the inner member. This allows the user to follow the path to visually track his correct head position through the posterior canalith repositioning maneuver sequence. Also attached to the user apparatus is an assistant apparatus which includes a hollow ball containing a liquid sufficient to form a small bubble which allows an assistant to follow a second path which corresponds to that seen by the user when he follows the user path.
Abstract: A teaching aid includes a cover for substantially covering a support stand, wherein the cover has an outer surface and an inner surface, and the inner surface is adapted to conform to the support stand. The support stand may be an ordinary safety cone. The cover may be made of heavy fabric. Manipulative teaching devices are connected to the outer surface for learning and developing manipulative skills. The manipulative teaching devices may be implemented with clothing fasteners, such as zippers, buttons, laces, snaps, hooks and eyes, and hook-and-loop fasteners.
Abstract: There is provided an apparatus and method for monitoring pulsation of a milking system in a dairy facility. The milking system includes vacuum hoses that extend from a vacuum source to a milking claw. The pressure in each vacuum hose is changed by a pulsator, with the vacuum hoses being out of phase with one another. The pressure sensors are coupled to the respective vacuum hoses, which sensors monitor the pressure pulsations to ensure that the pulsator is operating satisfactorily. The pressure sensors are coupled to the vacuum hoses by way of passageways or hoses. A bypass is provided between the passageways so as to provide air circulation in the otherwise dead air space in these passageways. The bypass is small so as to not interfere with the pressure measurements by the sensors and is located in close proximity to the pressure sensors so as to minimize the amount of dead air space.
Abstract: A support frame with legs is provided for supporting a chamber member with walls that taper inward from its upper end to an ash removal opening and a middle member forming a heating cavity. The upper end of the middle is adapted to support an upper member with walls that taper inward from its lower end to an upper vent. A lower grate is supported at the lower opening of the middle member for holding material to be burned. An upper grate is supported at the upper end of the middle member for supporting food to be cooked. In a further aspect, a side opening is formed through the wall of the middle member for use for adding burnable material on the lower grate. The four members can be broken down and stacked together in a small volume.
Abstract: A firing head for a perforating gun includes a detonating block having a first end and a second end, with the second end being structured and arranged so as to be located adjacent to a detonation material. A central passage extends through the detonating block from the first end to the second end. A detonator is located and restrained in the passage so as to be adjacent to the detonating material. At least one venting passage extends from the central passage to an exterior of the detonating block.
Abstract: A securing mechanism is provided which can be attached to a conventional meter box lid which does not require the lid to be redesigned. The securing mechanism comprises a holding member attached to the latch on the underside of the lid. A threaded aperture is formed in said holding member. A bolt having a threaded shaft is extended through the upper wall of the lid from the top side to be secured into the threaded aperture of the holding member for preventing a key from moving the latch member to a release position. In the embodiment disclosed, the bolt has a head with two spaced apart apertures formed therein for receiving two prong of tool for allowing the bolt shaft to be screwed into and from the threaded aperture for locking and release purposes.
Abstract: A composition of asphaltic concrete and the method of making the same are disclosed. The asphaltic concrete has asphalt cement, sulfuric acid and citrus stripper oil admixed together. This admixture is mixed with some aggregate and then packed and consolidated. The resulting paved surface resists rutting and requires less maintenance.
Abstract: A transport apparatus transports objects from one location to another, and in particular between a check station and a conveyor system. The apparatus has an arm that is structured and arranged to be located in a bagwell near the check station. The arm is telescoping and is contained in a base unit. A platform for receiving baggage is coupled to a free end of the arm and extends over the base unit when the apparatus is retracted. The platform has a roller that bears on the floor. As the arm extends and retracts, the platform rolls on the floor. Internal roller bearings allow the arm to telescope. The arm and the platform can be adjusted in height and the widths of the base unit and platform can be adjusted to the bagwell.

Abstract: A lens arrangement has a corrective or prescription lens. The prescription lens is adjacent to a fluid cell. The fluid cell has a flexible membrane and a base. Fluid is pumped into or out of the fluid cell in order to vary the corrective power of the entire lens arrangement. The prescription lens is coupled to the base so as to pivotally couple an edge portion of the flexible membrane therebetween and to allow the edge portion to flex with minimum distortion. The prescription lens, which may have a cylindrical surface, is rotatably coupled to the base to allow the cylinder axis to be adjusted to a proper position. The prescription lens is removably coupled to the base to allow the lens to be exchanged for a lens with a different corrective power.
Abstract: Eyeglasses for the treatment of low-vision and macular degeneration include a frame for supporting lenses on an occipital dexter side and an occipital sinister side. An occipital dexter lens has a near portion and a distance portion. The near portion has a dioptric power for near vision in a right eye, and the distance portion has a dioptric power for distance vision in the right eye. The optical center of the near portion of the occipital dexter lens is below and on the temporal side of the optical center of the distance portion. An occipital sinister lens similarly has a near portion and a distance portion. The near portion has a dioptric power for near vision in a left eye, and the distance portion has a dioptric power for distance vision in the left eye. The optical center of the near portion of the occipital sinister lens is below and on the temporal side of the optical center of the distance portion.

Abstract: In an apparatus and method for actuating arms used on a borehole data-logging tool to deploy measuring instruments against a borehole wall, a mandrel is provided. At least one arm carried by the mandrel is mounted to the mandrel to move between an expanded position, in which a part of the arm projects from the mandrel, and a retracted position. A resilient biassing compression spring provides a resilient biassing force on each arm for biassing the arm towards its expanded position. A hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly associated with each arm restrains the arm against movement towards its expanded position. A drive piston and cylinder assembly acts upon the resilient biassing compression springs for adjusting the resilient biassing force acting upon each arm.
