    Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus and method for infusing fluids to and aspirating tissue from an intraosseous site. The apparatus is comprised of an infusion tube coupled to a housing assembly with a release mechanism that removes the force exerted on the infusion tube once it has penetrated the bone a predetermined depth. As the housing assembly is withdrawn, the infusion tube remains in the bone. The ball release mechanism and other aspects of the apparatus can be modified to yield different penetration depths.

The rotation device includes: a frame for supporting the pack; a mechanism for moving the frame from a level below to a level above the work surface and vice versa; and a mechanism for rotating the frame clockwise and vice versa. The work surface presents first and second openings with longitudinal axes respectively parallel and perpendicular to the cutting line, for enabling movement of the frame from a level below to a level above the work surface and vice versa.

    Abstract: Provided is a lift axle suspension system employing an extendible air chamber in which the lifting mechanism is located. The mechanism for lifting the vehicle's wheels out of road engagement includes a spirally coiled spring connected to a reel having a cable wrapped around it. The unwrapped end of the cable is connected to the vehicle and the reel is connected to the suspension. When air is supplied to the air chamber it extends, lowering the wheels into road engagement. In doing so, the chamber acts against the normal bias of the spirally coiled spring, playing out the cable as the reel rotates. Release of air from the chamber causes the bias of the spring to automatically rotate the reel in the opposite direction which in turn takes up the cable and raises the wheels from the road surface. Preloading of the spring serves to hold the suspension firmly in its riding position. The predetermined length of cable to be played out serves as a stop or shock absorber against over-extension of the air chamber.

    Abstract: An educational game including a game board, at least one game piece and an audio recording. The game board has a serpentine path located on the top face thereof. The serpentine path is broken up into a series of connected squares. The game piece is designed such that it is moved along the path as the game is played. The audio recording contains a number of mathematical problems or other questions and the answers thereto. Each question or problem is separated from its answer by a pause of predetermined duration. Each time the player of the game answers a problem or a question correctly and within the time allowed, the player advances his/her game piece along the serpentine path. The number of squares on the path and the number of questions on the recording are equal so that if a player answers all of the questions correctly, his/her game piece exactly reaches the finish space.

    Abstract: A latching device to connect two adjacent members (e.g. sections of a stake type truck body) is provided. The latching device is comprised of two basic members, a latching assembly and a receiving member, each attached to one of the adjacent members. The latching assembly includes a latch rod which is slidably and rotatably attached to one of the members and a spring. The spring biases the latch rod away from the receiving member. The receiving member is connected to the second member and may have a slot therein. The latch rod has an engaging end which is received within the slot and has two engaging surfaces. These two engaging surfaces firmly engage two receiving surfaces of the receiving member when the latching device is latched.

    Abstract: An upwardly biasing back-to-back, quarter-elliptic, diverging pair of leaf springs are employed as the lifting mechanism in a lift axle suspension system for wheeled vehicles. The springs normally bias the lift axle off of the road surface. By inflation of air bags, the wheels are lowered into engagement with the road surface against the normal upward bias of the leaf springs. Release of the air automatically retracts the wheels to their riding, lift position.

    Abstract: A pipe connection assembly for connecting pipes transmitting a fluid as provided. A feature of this invention is the fact that it prevents any fluid escaping from the connection from traveling along the pipes and damaging any machinery that may be located along the pipes. The pipe connection assembly is comprised of first (or upper) and second (or lower) packing assemblies that radially surround the pipes. In certain embodiments, each of the packing assemblies is comprised of a top packing ring, a packing and a packing base ring, each packing being encased by the two complementary packing rings and the pipes when the packing assemblies are properly assembled. An opening is formed between the second top packing ring and the first packing base ring. The pipe assemblies are located with respect to the pipe interface such that any escaping fluid will contact the first packing assembly and the opening before contacting the second packing assembly.

    Abstract: A drawer-type night depository is disclosed which has a drawer which slides in and out of a housing embedded in a wall. The drawer has an unusable dead space in the front thereof and a partial floor comprised of spaced stationary fingers. The night depository also includes rotor fingers which are designed to rotate through the drawer as the drawer is closed. The item being deposited is placed on the stationary fingers. Then as the drawer is closed, the symmetric rotor fingers rotate between and through the stationary fingers, picking up the deposited item and flipping the deposited item through an opening in the drawer and housing into a bin below. The rotor fingers are fixedly attached to a shaft which passes through the drawer. The shaft is rotated by a clutch mechanism as the drawer is closed. The clutch mechanism is designed such that the shaft, and thus the rotor fingers, are rotated each time the drawer is closed.

    Abstract: A rugged sturdy workpiece positioning mechanism that effectively and efficiently positions and holds at least two workpieces for further operations is provided. The mechanism includes a main support which is slidably connected to a first workpiece and a housing assembly which is affixed to the main support and extends above and engages the second workpiece. The housing assembly includes two side plates, a cam with a handle rotatably attached to the sideplates, a ratchet to lock the cam into a fixed position and a load bearing surface actuated by the cam and slidably received between the side plates. The edge of the cam abuts the load bearing member. When the cam is rotated in a predetermined direction, the distance between its axis of rotation and the load bearing member increases driving the load bearing member downward. The load bearing surface engages the workpiece and forces the second workpiece into a desired position relative to the first workpiece.

    Abstract: An egg injection machine is provided which includes a needle assembly, a needle plate assembly, a solenoid assembly and an egg positioning assembly. The needle plate assembly is located above the egg positioning assembly and includes a movable plate (having up and down positions), a stationary plate and a spring located therebetween which is biased to push the movable plate away from the stationary plate. The solenoid assembly is connected to the movable plate and controls the movement of the movable plate. The needle assembly is fixedly attached to the movable plate such that it moves between a retracted position and an injection position as the movable plate moves. The egg positioning assembly also includes a second movable and a second stationary plate, between which the egg is positioned. A shock absorber and a speed controller are attached to one of those latter plates. In operation, the needle assembly rapidly decelerates towards the egg.

    Abstract: A quick hardening icing composition is disclosed which is used in conjunction with an improved bakery goods tray structure to carry out an improved method for processing and packaging bakery goods. Fresh, warm bakery goods are deposited upside-down onto a conveyor belt and the improved bakery goods tray structure is set down over the bakery goods. The tray structure and bakery goods are moved along the conveyor belt to a tipping station where the tray and bakery goods are oriented top side up without damage to the fragile bakery goods. The tray structure has substantially vertical sides terminated at their top by an outward projecting flange substantially coplanar with the top of the bakery goods. A layer of quick hardening icing is deposited on top of the bakery goods and overlaps and sealably mates with the outward projecting flange on the tray structure, sealing the bakery goods inside.

    Abstract: A latching device to connect two adjacent members (i.e. truck panels) is provided. The latching device is comprised of two parts, a movable latching member and a receiving member, each attached to adjacent panels. The movable latching member is comprised of a plate, a retaining bracket, a latch rod and a spring. The latch rod has a ring fixedly attached thereto and is rotatably and slidably received within the retaining bracket, which is in turn attached to the plate. The spring circumferentially surrounds a portion of the latch rod and has its ends abutting the bracket and the ring thereby biasing the rod toward its retaining position. The receiving means is connected to a second panel and has a slot therein. The latch rod has an engaging end which is received within the slot and firmly engages the slot.
