Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##EQU1## wherein R is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or aryl of 6 to 12 carbon atoms substituted with 0 to 5 halogen atoms of atomic number 9 to 35, nitro groups, alkyl groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alkoxy groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; one of R.sup.1 or R.sup.2 is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or cycloalkyl of 5 to 6 carbon atoms and the other is aryl of 6 to 12 carbon atoms substituted with 0 to 5 halogen atoms of atomic number 9 to 35, nitro groups, alkyl groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alkyoxy groups of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or trifluoromethyl; R.sup.3 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and X is sulfur, SO, SO.sub.2 or oxygen, with the proviso that when X is oxygen, R.sup.1 is aryl or substituted aryl. The ureas find use as herbicides in both pre- and post-emergent applications.
Abstract: N-polyhalovinylthioformamides of the formula: ##EQU1## wherein R is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, X is halogen of atomic number 17 to 35 and a is 2 or 3. These formamides are fungicidal, algicidal and nematocidal.
Abstract: N.sup.1 -methoxycarbonyl-N.sup.1 -alkyl-3,5-dinitro-N.sup.4,N.sup.4 -dialkylsulfanilamides are useful as pre-emergence herbicides for crabgrass, with essentially no herbicidal effects on lawn grasses such as ryegrass and dichondra.
Abstract: A process for applying a pesticidal composition to granular vegetative products such as grains and seeds, which comprises:1. loading and compacting a granular material into a first chamber by conveying it upwardly against the force of gravity;2. conveying and tumbling the compacted granular material from the first chamber into a second chamber of greater capacity than the first chamber to permit mixing and tumbling of the granular material;3. spraying the tumbling granular material with a pesticidal composition in the second chamber; and4. discharging the sprayed granular material from the second chamber.Apparatus suitable for carrying out the process of the invention are also described.
