Patent number: 4234080Abstract: The invention comprises a rectangular plastic sheet which may be folded about living hinges to provide a container for holding coins and the like. The sheet is made of polypropylene or other suitable plastic material which has good living hinge qualities in thin sections. The preferred embodiment consists of three V-shaped units separated by two living hinges, which units when folded form a regular hexagonally cross-sectioned cylinder. Ledging may be provided on the end of the sheet so that when folded the ledging at least partially closes the otherwise open ends of the cylinder. A locking mechanism comprising an upwardly extending lip on a side edge of the sheet which engages a hollow behind and beneath a downwardly extending lip on the other side edge is provided. By forcing contact by the coins against the container walls when the container is closed the material is tightened against the coins and the locking mechanism becomes more tightly engaged, securing against accidental opening.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1979Date of Patent: November 18, 1980Inventor: Jobst U. Patent number: 4228378Abstract: This invention relates to an improved wire wound disc type armature for electric motors or generators. The armature has a disc shaped body mounted on a central shaft with a commutator formed of spaced insulated commutator elements located around it. The disc shaped body has opposing flat sides on which a predetermined number of wire windings are located. The insulated wire forming each winding extends outward from the commutator through a U-shaped wire channel on one side of the disc shaped armature and back through a corresponding wire channel on the other side. The disc shaped body of the armature is formed of high strength plastic and the wire channels are formed of laminated steel. In one embodiment, the wire then passes through an aperture in the disc shaped body associated with each winding and back out through the first wire channel and this is repeated until a winding of a desired number of turns is formed in the two channels.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1979Date of Patent: October 14, 1980Inventor: Marcel E. Patent number: 4222733Abstract: This invention relates to improved flow control mechanism for valve gated injection molding. The mechanism is of the type where movement of the valve pin is controlled by a pneumatically driven rocker arm. The back plate is cast with an integral pivot pin portion projecting from it and a pivot ball is fixed in a seat on the end of it. The rocker arm has a recess which receives the pivot ball for pivotal motion on the pivot pin portion of the back plate. The back plate is cast of a steel with sufficient strength and flexibility to withstand the repeated lateral loading on it due to the pivotal motion of the rocker arm, while the pivot ball is formed of a significantly harder material to avoid unacceptable wear where it is in moving contact with the rocker arm. Casting the back plate rather than machining it, enables bends in the runner passage extending through it to be smoothly curved, thus avoiding "dead spots".Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1978Date of Patent: September 16, 1980Assignee: Mold-Masters LimitedInventors: Jobst U. Gellert, Peter Krause

Patent number: 4212626Abstract: This invention relates to injection molding and particularly to a melt transfer system for stack molding. According to the invention, a novel combination of known melt flow control valve units are arranged and operated to control the flow of pressurized melt from the stationary platen adjacent the molding machine to a manifold in the center moving platen. One control valve unit is located in the stationary platen in alignment with another control valve unit located in the moving platen. When the moving platen is in the closed position adjacent the stationary platen, the gates of the two control valve units abut and when the valve pins of the two control valve units are actuated to the open position, pressurized melt will flow through the gates from the stationary platen to the moving platen. The hot runner passage extends from the molding machine through the control valve unit located in the stationary platen.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1978Date of Patent: July 15, 1980Inventor: Jobst U. Patent number: 4212627Abstract: This invention relates to improved mechanism for actuating injection molding valve pins. In one embodiment, the mechanism is located between two parallel rows of valve pins located in a common plane with their driven ends adjacent the mechanism. The mechanism includes a central elongated member which is longitudinally reciprocable and two parallel elongated transversely reciprocable side members, each located between the central member and one of the rows of valve pins. Each of the side members is connected to the central member by a number of spaced pairs of pivotally connected pins and the central member is secured against transverse motion, while the side members are secured against longitudinal motion. Therefore, the side members are reciprocated transversely when the central member is reciprocated longitudinally by a hydraulic cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1978Date of Patent: July 15, 1980Inventor: Jobst U.
