  • Patent number: 4312339
Abstract: A system for administering an anesthetic gas to a patient has a mask, means for supplying an anesthetic gas to the mask when the patient inhales, and an exhaust line having its proximal end connected to the mask and adapted to have its terminal end connected to a source of vacuum to exhaust gas from the mask when the patient exhales. A closed reservoir is in series with said exhaust line between the proximal and terminal ends thereof. The reservoir has an inlet and an outlet with a check valve adjacent to the inlet to prevent the flow of gas out of the reservoir through the inlet when the patient inhales. Advantageously, the reservoir check valve is a diaphragm valve and the face mask has at least one nozzle for scavenging gas escaping from the mask.

  • Patent number: 4300665
Abstract: A switch device is used in a self-retracting cord reel having a housing, a rotating drum, and an electrical cord having a portion thereof wound on the drum, a spring motor for rewinding the cord on the drum, a ratchet, a pawl having a first stop position for engaging the ratchet to stop the reel from rewinding the cord and a second position permitting the reel to rewind the cord, the positioning of the pawl being controlled by the movement of the reel with the cord. A switch is secured to the drum in circuit with the cord and is biased to one of its two positions. Switch operating mechanism is adapted to be moved by the pawl for placing the switch in the other position when the pawl is in its stop position.

  • Patent number: 4299013
Abstract: A spring wire clip for clipping together sheets has a head and a pair of legs extending forwardly and outwardly from the head. Each leg has a forward transverse portion and a return portion at the end of the transverse portion which lies substantially outside the width of the head. Apparatus for clipping a plurality of sheets with a spreadable spring clip having a head and a pair of legs has an upstanding magazine for the spring clips, a support for the sheets which are to be clipped together and a pusher for engaging the head of the lowermost clip in the magazine and advancing the clip to the sheet support. Cams interposed between the sheet support and the magazine are engaged by the clip as it is advanced for spreading the legs of the clip and then releasing them when they are overlying the sheet support.
