Abstract: A reclining chair having a base frame (1) supporting a reclining unit (2) by a mechanism having downwardly converging swing links (15 and 16) pivoted at their upper ends at (22 and 23) respectively to the frame, a rigid member (14) pivotally connected to the lower ends of the swing links (15 and 16 at 20 and 21). The rigid member (14) has a link (13) rigidly connected to it which in turn is rigidly connected to the reclining unit (2). The center of gravity of the reclining unit with its occupant is maintained in a substantially horizontal plane as the unit moves from upright to reclined positions.
Abstract: A laboratory research tool for conducting a variety of procedures including cell and tissue culture techniques includes a multi-well cluster plate, a filter plate that has one or more filter wells that extend into the wells of the cluster plate, a cover and a reservoir that can be used with auxiliary equipment designed for use with standard 96-well format cluster plates. The system allows multiple tissue samples to be grown and manipulated simultaneously.
Abstract: A fluidized-bed system for feeding coal or a coal-limestone mixture into a fluidized bed combustor, a perforated horizontal distributor plate dividing the chamber into upper and lower chamber sections, means for feeding solid fuel particles into the upper chamber section, a source of high velocity gas connected to the lower chamber section and passing through the plate into the upper chamber section for entraining the particles, means for heating the high velocity gas before it is introduced into the upper chamber, an entrainment section defined by converging upper sides of said fuel feeding chamber, and a stream splitting section disposed above said entrainment section and connected to a plurality of pneumatic transport lines each penetrating the distributor plate of a fluidized bed combustor and terminating in an outlet feedport.
