Abstract: A boat line handling device attachable to a boat hook or like instrument comprised of a length of resilient, strong wire such as aluminum having its end section or length of sufficient dimension for turning into a pair of approximately two inch (2") loops, diametrically measured, and having the end portion for gathering and tying the loops together where the loop wire adjoins a straight segment, the straight segments joined by the common length of wire and having near one intermediate end a turn of wire forming a pole eye for receiving an end of a boat hook and the straight segment near the other end contoured to form a pole hook member to rest over the boat hook in a generally parallel relation while in use, the loops being used for receiving in resiliency relation a boat line for handling and passing a securing line from a boat to a piling, mooring cleat, and the like.
Abstract: An improved impact tool being attached to a drill stem about ten (10) or more feet above the drill bit, and in drilling mud flows through the impact tool to the drill bit when the well is being drilled. When the drill becomes stuck, plunger means is inserted through the drilling mud passage way from the ground level and is forced down to the impact tool by pressure of the drilling mud, and on reaching the impact tool, it engages a lip forming surface at the upper end of the impact tool and seals off the flow of drilling mud. The pressure placed on the drilling mud flowing from ground level forces a set of sleeves to move downward against the force of a helical spring, causing the drilling mud to flow through a jet contoured nozzle for directing the drilling mud toward the stuck drilling bit for thereby dislodging the drilling bit.
Abstract: An improved arm chair coaster formed of a main plastic container or body of elongated shape and closed for retaining in bulbuous end sections a weighted quantity of sand, gravel or shot, a wood, plastic or heavy cardboard block member of square or rectangular cross section secured to a mid or intermediate portion of the main plastic body, a stabilizer plate and rivets securing the main plastic bag to the block member, and underside of the main plastic body being sprayed with a non-slip, sprayed foam rubber coating to secure it onto the arm of a sofa or arm chair, and a lip, rim, or scalloped edge extending around the flat upper surface of the block means forming a receptacle. The main plastic body may be a transparent or a translucent material and each end of the main plastic body have equal weighted amounts of the sand, gravel or shot. Velcro may be used as securing means where a Velcro section is provided on the arm chair or sofa for receiving the improved arm chair coaster of the invention.
Abstract: A thermometer system for blowing heated air having a temperature value close to the temperature value of body temperature directly onto the tympanic membrane from tubing apparatus, and measuring the temperature of the air as it returns from the membrane, the air having membrane temperature.
Abstract: A quick chucking die holder device for forging presses comprises an upper and a lower die holder and two adapter plates with dies fastened therein. Centering gibs are provided for centering the adapter plates within the die holders and spring loaded wedges make the chucking connection. The wedges may be controlled by means of hydraulic cylinders, or in a modified form, by the proper ram movement thereby movement of the ram is caused to release, or to clamp, the adapter plates.
Abstract: A system for selectively reversing the deflection sweep to a yoke coil of a television receiver system in which a double pole-double throw (DP-DT) switch reverses the current to the deflection coil, a solenoid relay actuates the DP-DT switch, and switch control and arrangement means for energizing the solenoid relay during times when power is not applied to the television receiver system. Also the system provides for a four or more sequential position switch in which intermediate portions of the switch perform as a break-before-make (BBM) stage and the outer portions of the switch positions perform as make-before-break (MBB) stages and the switch comprises a DP-DT and a four position switch operable mechanically in tandem.
Abstract: An improved vegetable and flower snip apparatus for cutting the vegetable okra and thorny type flowers which includes a scissor-type snip having a mating set of nose elements at the terminal end thereof from the handle portion so that there are blade cutting elements and which provide for holding the stem in place while being snipped or sheared.
Abstract: A scanning radiometer having a series of laminations forming a tightly bonded sandwich structure each being electrically insulated from adjacent ones thereof, said series including a thermometric or thermo responsive material, a heat pump functioning material, a heat sink functioning material, and an insulator functioning material, and in which the thermo responsive material is formed of a set of matrix of thin metal alternately with absorptive or blackened portions, each forming opposite arms of a Wheatstone bridge. The use of the term "thermoelectric or thermoresponsive material" designates a metallic or other electric resistor whose resistance is temperature sensitive and when measured, is an indicator of its temperature. "Heat pump functioning material" is a thermoelectric device that tranfers or "pumps" heat from one of its two surfaces to the other when an electric current is supplied to its terminals.
Abstract: A lightweight magnetic stirrer apparatus which may be positioned for rotation in a fluid containing vessel, having a magnetic rotor assembly including a generally vertical center hub on which is mounted a generally horizontal magnetic impeller. The rotor assembly is rotatably mounted in a positioning cage which generally positions the rotor assembly within the vessel and prevents it from contacting the walls of the vessel to allow the rotor assembly hub to rotate free relative to the vessel in the cage under the influence of an exterior magnetic drive. The magnetic stirrer apparatus is also provided with a cage in which the legs are totally removeable so as to make it any size for different beakers. Furthermore, the magnet may be removed completely from the cage so that it may be dropped into the neck of a bottle and the magnet per se used by itself. High lubricity bearing surfaces of the hub and cage reduce frictional forces and allow rotation of the impeller at very low speeds.
Abstract: Block-forming means or shuttering apparatus for precast units of especially long dimension along one axis, a horizontal basic frame and two block-forming or shuttering walls of which are means for at least one is guided slidably being selectively adjustable along the basic frame to change the mutual distance between the two shuttering walls, piston and cylinder assemblies 16 for driving of said sliding guided means, and clamping means 19 for clamping together one of the slidable shuttering walls and the basic frame.
