  • Patent number: 5709447
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to obtain high luminance with low power consumption. Convexes are formed on one side face of a light-guiding plate on a light source side of the light-guiding plate. The convexes are formed at minute pitches in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the one side face. An isosceles right triangle is selected as the sectional shape of the convexes. Light having entered from the one side face is diffused and reflected by a diffuse reflection layer, and light reflected by a reflection plate is emitting from a light-outgoing surface. The light having entered from the one side face is also directly emitted from the light-outgoing surface. The emitted light is diffused by a diffusion plate to irradiate, for example, the side opposite to the display side of a liquid crystal display panel in which the lighting device of the invention is to be incorporated.

  • Patent number: 5708929
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, when a transferred material exists in a transfer position between a photoreceptor drum and a transfer unit during an image forming operation, a transfer voltage, which has opposite polarity to that of a voltage applied to a brush charger and is used for transferring a developer image on the photoreceptor drum onto the transferred material is applied to the transfer unit. Meanwhile, when a transferred material does not exist in the transfer position during the image forming operation, a non-transfer voltage, which is lower than the transfer voltage, is applied to the transfer unit. As a result, defects on an image due to returning of a developer from the brush charger to the photoreceptor drum can be prevented from being generated.

  • Patent number: 5696742
Abstract: A light sensor is divided into two light receiving sections which receive light reflected by an optical disk. A first intermediate address signal is generated from a difference signal of outputs of the light receiving sections. A second intermediate address signal is generated from a sum signal of outputs of the light receiving sections. An address generating circuit generates an address signal by using the first and second intermediate address signals. An optical disk device stably generating an address signal regardless of a displacement of an objective lens and a change in reflectance of the optical disk is thus provided.

  • Patent number: 5658412
Abstract: In a method for producing a three-dimensional object wherein the object is produced layer by layer by applying a layer of a material which can be solidified by irradiation with electromagnetic radiation and subsequently solidifying the layer at the points corresponding to the object by irradiation the problem is encountered that the production process is considerably delayed by long heating and cooldown times within the apparatus used for the production. According to the invention this problem is solved by irradiating and thereby solidifying in each layer a region of the material surrounding the object so as to produce a container wall (26) for the material (21).
