  • Patent number: 6821416
Abstract: A decorative or landscape pond system which includes the skimmer assembly and a substantially horizontally-positioned, submersible and rotary pump in the skimmer assembly and supported on a bottom wall thereof. The skimmer assembly includes a side opening and a net and mat filter positioned within the skimmer below the opening and above the bottom wall. The pump is in elongated structure having an inlet/outlet section at one end, an electrical inlet section at the other end and an elongated electric motor section there between. A lubrication section is positioned between and sealingly engages the inlet/outlet section and motor section. A plurality of O-ring and face seals are provided for sealing the sections. The securement of the sections is either radially outward or radially inward of the O-rings and face seals to minimize leakage between sections or into the pump itself.

  • Patent number: 6632352
Abstract: The present invention provides a convenient way to filter water in a body of water. The invention combines an encloseable container with an internal pump producing cyclonic action, with two different types of filters. One type of filtering consists of layers of varied porosity, one layer filtering only very fine debris, while the other layers blocking progressively large debris. The other type of filtering involves stacked discs placed to aid in further filtering of the water in the chamber of the cylinder. Water flows around the bottom disc, through holes in the second disc, and around the third disc before approaching the stacked filters of varied porosity. An internal ultra-violet light helps control algae in the water.

  • Patent number: 5562442
Abstract: A regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) is constructed to receive polluted waste gases from an industrial process, cleanse the gas and permit cleansed gas to exit the RTO to the environment. The RTO includes a lower section having an inlet to receive polluted or incoming gas, and a centrally positioned rotary distributor in the lower section for cooperation in controlling gas flow via a segmented center section. The rotary distributor is substantially smaller than the lower section and is of a substantially smaller cross section. Incoming gas is directed to a middle section segment(s), fills the segment(s) and then flows through a peripheral opening to a segmented upper section where it passes through a heat exchanger to a combustion chamber where it is oxidized or cleansed. From there cleansed gas passes through another upper section segment through a heat exchanger and back to center section segment(s).

  • Patent number: 5553420
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a casement-style window assembly having a support frame which carries a pivotable sash assembly. The sash assembly has its own frame and carries a pane, usually transparent, therein. Both the frame and sash are constructed of multi-chambered extruded structural plastic members and interior decorative wood members that are arranged to conceal the plastic members from interior view. Weather stripping or insulation is fitted within various chambers. Operator and multi-point lock hardware are mounted to the structural plastic frame. Wooden stops associated with the sash frame cooperate to trap the pane in position and to engage the support frame when the window is closed. The sash frame structural member forms an L-shape which includes an affect member directed to the interior for engaging the support frame. In this construction the window assembly forms a functional unit even with the various wood members removed.

  • Patent number: 5514854
Abstract: A bag for carrying corn kernels for popping in a microwave oven. The bag has front, back, and gusseted side panels and carries a susceptor for receiving microwave energy and heating the corn for popping. In general, the bag is of the single gusset tube type with a V-shaped bottom. The bag has winged end constructions where the seals are entirely internal, in a linear zone or band that extends from side-to-side, (i.e. transversely of the bag length). The top seal is not as strong as the bottom seal, so as to permit top venting. In the winged construction the front and back panel centers are adhered together and gusset folds are secured to an adjacent front or back panel. Upon bag expansion the bag has an increased internal volume for its size, minimizes tilting and maximizes susceptor/oven floor contact and can be set upright on the bottom end winged construction. This bag structure provides for more complete popping and for a more pleasing pillow shape for the bag.

  • Patent number: 5509234
Abstract: An operator assembly for a casement window that includes a frame and a pane carrying sash. The operator assembly is mounted to the frame and an elongated arm connects the operator assembly and the sash. Movement of the arm moves the sash relative to the frame for opening and closing the window. The operator arm includes a pivotally mounted and linerally moveable handle which is moveable between a first and second position. A ratchet-type gearing system is provided to connect the handle and operator arm and to effect movement of the operator arm in response to movement of the handle. A selector associated with the handle and gearing system is provided to effect and control the direction of sash movement in response to the movements by the handle. A locking system is provided to engage the gearing system to prevent movement of the gearing system due to loads on the sash that are transmitted to the gearing system through the sash and operator arm.
