Abstract: A non-rebreathing oxygen mask for supplying a continuous flow of oxygen to a patient. The non-rebreathing oxygen mask includes a face mask portion for enclosing the mouth and nose of a patient, an oxygen reserve bag for receiving a supply of oxygen from an external source, and an intermediate oxygen entry port for regulating the flow of oxygen into the oxygen reserve bag from an external source, and between the oxygen reserve bag and the face mask portion. A spring member, having a first end portion secured to a distal end of the oxygen entry port and a second end freely extending through the neck of the oxygen reserve bag into the interior thereof, is utilized to maintain an unobstructed airflow passageway through the neck area of the oxygen reserve bag.

Abstract: Apparatus for protecting persons trapped in burning buildings from injury resulting from breathing of combustion products comprises a plumbing pipe segment disposed between a plumbing trap element and a plumbing system vent line having a releasably sealed port therein. An easily removable fluid sealing cap is installed on the port to provide for normal drain operation. A flexible conduit sealingly attached to a breathing mask at one end and to a fluid sealing connector device adapted to be connected to the port at the other end is also provided. In the event of fire, the user releases the sealing cap from the port and connects the fluid sealing connector at one end of the flexible conduit to the port thereby being provided with access through the mask, conduit, port, and vent line to a supply of building exterior, breathable, air free from harmful combustion products.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for crushing aluminum beverage cans after the contents have been emptied. The can crusher includes a frame having an anvil mounted at one end thereof and a movable ram positioned on the frame and facing the anvil, a crushing chamber is affixed to the frame for supporting the can between the anvil and the ram and a means is provided for moving the ram toward the anvil and then away from the anvil.

Abstract: A modified round roll capacitor has a metallized paper electrode capacitor wound as a roll on a thick walled core tube with the roll and core tube being simultaneously flattened, the flattened core tube serving as an integral rigid core structure for the roll. The core is less deformable than the roll to provide continuing resistance in a flattening process and to maintain tension and central integrity to the structure.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to novel silicone compounds containing alkenyl thio functional groups and their method of preparation. These compounds are useful as adhesion promoters for self-adhering silicone rubbers capable of bonding to inorganic substrates especially metals. The silicone rubber-metal composites have particular applications in semiconductor devices and in ignition systems for automobiles.
