Abstract: Baby bottle nipple or pacifier having a mouth portion made of elastomer and a base portion made of semi-rigid thermoplastic polymer. The mouth portion is formed in a hot first mold and the mouth portion is transferred to relatively cold second mold in which the base portion is molded around it.
Abstract: A faceplate for a highly sensitive low-light level imaging device is provided with an off-axis light filter to reduce optical noise. A transparent optical conduit layer includes an absorbing region around the periphery to absorb off-axis light. A transparent front plate extends beyond the periphery of the conduit and forms a shoulder of easily polished glass to facilitate the sealing of the faceplate to the imaging device frame. A clear glass back plate extends so as to cover the entire inner surface of the conduit including the absorbing region, thereby providing an easily and consistently polishable surface upon which to bond a photosensitive semi-conductor wafer. This reduces the necessity for matching of glass compositions between the core and the absorbing region.
Abstract: Brace for use on a body limb having a joint, wherein a cuff is adapted to be attached to the limb above the joint and a cuff to be attached to the limb below the joint, the two cuffs being joined by a connecting member. The connecting member consists of a main body having a track in which lies a limiting element, the limiting element allowing the main body to be bent one direction only, but not in any other.
Abstract: A junction piece for releasably connecting rod-shaped structural elements 7, the junction piece consisting of a junction ball K and a pin element 4 to be radially screwed into the ball K. The pin elements 4 are of cylindrical shape and can be inserted with a cylindrical section into front end recesses of the structural elements 7 and can be fixed axially thereof. In this case, the cylindrical section is made to correspond to an axial guide casing for the pin element 4. The guide casing can be rotated and fixed in the front end recess of the rod-shaped structural elements 7, whereas the pin element 4 is arranged to be prevented from any rotation in the guide casing. It is, however, allowed to be axially displaced against the action of the spring 5.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of tubular preforms. Its purpose is to improve the flow pattern in the plastics chamber and simultaneously to shorten the dwell time of the plastics. This is achieved, in the course of the dip blow method, by the fact that the geometric form of a plastics chamber (that is distinct from a separate screw chamber) is changed and the volume is decreased so that the tubular preform acquires a certain thickness or thickness distribution.
Abstract: Apparatus for expanding a visual image consisting of a ribbon of optical fibers locked in closely-spaced, parallel relationship and cut across at a narrow acute angle at one end, the surface thus exposed being roughened in texture and the exterior of each fiber being provided in that area with a reflective material.
Abstract: A substrate or "canvas" for use in thread-craft is formed of stiffenable sheet-like material in a chosen three-dimensional surface configuration. The substrate is needle-penetrable throughout, or in a dense array of points. The points are arranged so as to be amenable to embroidery charting. The substrate interior is accessible for thread-tool manipulation.
Abstract: Seal for two concentric tubular elements of a gas turbine, consisting of rings associated with each element and having facing grooves, and of a connector extending between the grooves and consisting of two annuli which are in concentric spaced relationship and are joined by a web.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for removing labels from an article such as a phonograph record, consisting of subjecting the article and label to the action of a solvent in a vapor-phase mode, and a liquid phase mode, passing the article through a drying space and subjecting the article to a blast of compressed air to blow off the label.
Abstract: Weighing device consisting of a hollow housing in which is mounted a leaf spring and having slots which expose the spring for receiving an object and for indicating the amount of deflection of the spring due to the weight of the object.
Abstract: Solar collector, using air as the flowing heated medium, including a glass enclosure, and using a thin metal diaphram in tightly-stressed condition as a heat absorbing agent.
Abstract: A tool useful for the placement of a golf club grip. The tool includes a handle with an elongated notch and an elongated blade parallel with the notch and is tapered to a point. The blade also is provided with a convex arcuate surface on one side and a flat surface on the other side that faces in the same direction as the notch. In operation the tool is applied to a hand grip to form an opening between the grip and club shaft.
Abstract: This invention has to do with an automatic manufacturing system and, more particularly, to a plurality of work stations to which a variety of workpieces are carried by a network of conveyors, in which means are provided to identify each workpiece and means are provided to direct the workpiece through a path variable in accordance with load conditions in the network having various work stations where selected operations are automatically performed on the workpiece.

Abstract: Workpiece clamp for use on the table of a machine tool, provided with an inverted T-shaped slot, the clamp consisting of a main body which overlies the table and is telescopingly mounted for vertical sliding motion on a base slidable in the T-shaped slot. The main body and the base are each provided with a horizontal extension. The horizontal extensions are vertically aligned for clamping a workpiece between the horizontal extension of the main body and the table. Apparatus are provided for locking the main body on the base in a plurality of relative vertical positions.
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for rolling metal strips in a rolling mill having a 4-high roll stand and a tension roll stand comprising a plurality of pairs of combined rollers. The method comprises advancing the metal strips through the 4-high roll stand and tension roll stand, so that the strip extends between the roller of each pair of combined rollers and is partially wrapped around each of the rollers. The rollers of each pair are rotated in opposite directions at a pre-determined circumferential differential speed ratio.
