Abstract: An improved method of producing dialkyl-sulfoxides by oxidizing corresponding dialkyl-sulfides with hydrogen peroxide in aqueous acidic medium. It remedies the drawback of the similar prior art as concerns the separation of the sulfoxide formed from its reaction medium. The new method permits of easily recovering the sulfoxides in the state of good purity. The improvement consists in mixing the reaction medium with a large proportion of a solvent capable of yielding an azeotropic mixture with water. Then, after oxidization, the water is removed by distillation as azeotropic mixture. Preferably solvents are used which dissolve the dialkyl-sulfide but do not dissolve the sulfoxide formed; heptane is a particularly useful solvent. When an excess of the solvent is used, there is obtained, after distilling off the azeotropic mixture, a slurry of sulfoxide and solvent, easy to separate.

Abstract: Gum applicator having a primary roller whose lower periphery extends into the box for emersion in a body of gum and a secondary roller which contacts the primary roller at a point well about the point where it emerges from the body of gum and which has a reduced central portion of substantial length.
Abstract: A racket for tennis and the like in which the handle is provided with one or more rotatable beams of rectangular cross section for radically changing its stiffness, and which provides for vibration damping during impact with the ball by the inclusion of a vibration damping fluid in the cavity which houses the beams.
Abstract: A lubricant composition comprising water, graphite, an organic thickener, sodium molybdate, and sodium pentaborate. Other additives are sodium bicarbonate, ethylene glycol, or mica. The composition is effective in the hot forging of metals, is virtually non-flammable, and generates very little atmospheric pollution during use.
Abstract: Packaging machine for elongated articles, wherein a frame is provided having an opening through which the article is laterally moved, wherein a roller of wrapping material is mounted at the top of the frame so that the material hangs as a curtain across the opening, and wherein sealing means is provided for sealing the material around the article when the article is pushed laterally into the curtain.
Abstract: Process for the manufacture of a grid comprising cutting a series of equal-length, parallel slits in a blank, each primary slit having a first neighboring slit on one side that is co-extensive with one-half of the primary slit and a second neighboring slit on the other side that is co-extensive with the other one-half of the primary slit, so that an area of double width appears beside each primary slit.
Abstract: Internal grinding machine having wheelhead mounted on an elongated cylindrical bar whose axis extends parallel to but substantially spaced from the axis of the abrasive wheel, the bar being mounted in bearings and the relative movements of the wheelhead for producing a grinding cycle being accomplished by rotation of the bar about its axis and by longitudinal motion of the bar along its axis.

Abstract: Apparatus for the extrusion blow molding of hollow bodies from thermoplastics with means forming a reinforced lip by upsetting and means severing a wall of the article in the mold.
Abstract: Apparatus for use with a swimming pool having a drain opening on a vertical surface, the apparatus consisting of an open-topped, open-sided enclosure with edges which engage the surface around the drain and with a pump on the interior for removing water.
Abstract: Process for manufacturing a forged article in which a preform is generated by filling a semi-rigid liner with powdered metal, providing the liner with a sealing element, and isostactically compressing the liner and its contents. The liner is then removed from the green preform, the preform is sintered, and the resulting sintered preform is forged.
Abstract: Method for making a zeolite having the structure of offretite, consisting of reacting in a closed container under autogenous pressure in the absence of tetramethylammonium ions, a composition having specific mole rations of K.sub.2 O,Na.sub.2 O,SiO.sub.2, Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, and H.sub.2 O.
Abstract: A bobbin case for sewing machines, in which a thin plate spring operates on the bobbin for inhibiting rotation thereof wherein an adjustable screw acts upon the spring to regulate the pressure on the bobbin and means is provided for exerting a constant thrust on the adjusting screw in a direction at a right angle to its axis for preventing it from loosening.
Abstract: Vehicle control system of the retro-reflective, pattern-coding type in which the signal device is carried on the vehicle and the scanner and controls are carried beneath the supporting surface.

Abstract: Process for forming a zeolite particle in the fluidizable size range from 20 to 150 micrometers. Acid-stable, molecular sieve zeolite mordenite is formed by mixing silica-alumina gel particles in the fluidized size range with sodium silicate, sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride, and mordenite seed crystals. For example, the mixture is reacted under autogenous pressure at 180.degree. C for 24 hours.
