  • Patent number: 7146372
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for making and using a virtual microscope slide data structure having data for an overall image of the specimen or a substantial portion thereof along with data for higher magnification images of selected areas within the overall image and along with data useable for correlating, linking and/or coherently assembling low magnification, overall image segments with the higher image segments. This latter data may comprise a control program for manipulating images to allow zooming different, higher magnification images into view, scrolling adjacent high magnification images into view or marking the location of a displayed higher magnification view on the overall image to assist in navigation by a viewer to locate and quickly display suspicious areas within the specimen. • Patent number: 7132112
Abstract: A novel method of vehicle modulated administration of an anticonvulsive agent to the mucous membranes of humans and animals is disclosed. The vehicle system is an aqueous pharmaceutical carrier comprising an aliphatic alcohol (10–80%) or a glycol (10–80%), and their combinations with a biological surfactant such as a bile salt or a lecithin. The pharmaceutical composition provides a means to control and promote the rate and extent of transmucosal permeation and absorption of the medicaments via a single and multiple administration. Nasal administration of the pharmaceutical preparation produces a high plasma concentration of the anticonvulsant nearly as fast as intravenous administration. Such compositions are particularly suitable for a prompt and timely medication of patients in the acute and/or emergency treatment of status epilepticus and other fever-induced seizures.

  • Patent number: 7131090
Abstract: A method of determining a forced gating function for at least one of a plurality of clocked state-holding elements. The forced gating function compares the input and output of said at least one clocked state-holding element. • Patent number: 7125252
Abstract: The invention concerns a drilling instrument (10), in particular for drilling dental root canals comprising a base (11) and a guide section (13) as well as a polygonal cutting section (12). Said cutting section includes several helical cutting edges (17) defining an envelope (15). The flutes (14), which are the surfaces linking in the cutting edges, are cut out such that part of them define clearance zones (16a) alternately arranged between the drilling zones (16b). In the central part of a clearance zone (16a), the cutting edges (17) are all arranged recessed inside the envelope (15), in the central part of the drilling zone (16b), said cutting edges are all arranged on the envelope, and in a zone intermediate between a clearance zone (16a) and an adjacent drilling zone (16b), at least one cutting edge is on the envelope and at least one cutting edge is recesses inside the envelope.

  • Patent number: 7114510
Abstract: A valve with a smart handle including a memory module to log relevant data. A sensor on the handle determines when the valve is open, and this triggers the start of timers and recording of the “open” event in a log in the memory module. When the valve is closed, the sensor triggers stopping of the timers and recording of the “closed” event in the log. The timer information is used to calculate the duration of the time “open” event, and this, together with the actual date and time of the opening and closing of the valve are recorded in the log. Other relevant information, such as cylinder fill date, cylinder I.D. number, batch number, and patient name or account number may also be logged in the memory module. The log of the events and the corresponding dates and times may be used to prepare invoices for billing gas treatments, for inventory control, and for other record-keeping and control functions.

  • Patent number: 7111434
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for producing a panel substantially stretched on a frame stretched homogeneously in all directions. The panel (1) is obtained from a sheet cut out in web of soft textile material produced from knitted synthetic textile yams forming deformable stitches in all directions. The textile web is coated with a coating mixture comprising an elastomeric polymerized polymer and a covering coloring substance. The peripheral edges of the sheet are engaged in retaining profiled sections (2) forming a closed frame (2) fixed on a support (3). Said sheet is stretched by local heating in at least a zone causing it to be heat-shrunk and stretched on the frame (2). The invention is applicable to false ceilings, advertising boards, and all types of wall decorations.

  • Patent number: 7103932
Abstract: Echocardiography table with an access cushion hinged within an access recess and a patient support cushion that swings out about a pivot from a swung in position within a patient support recess and a swung out position clear of the patient support recess. Retainers such as locking elements keep the patient support cushion in either the swung in or swung out position, as applicable. The patient support recess may have opposite walls that diverge and complement the tapering sides of the patient support cushion. The access cushion may be hinged to either rotate upright or swing to a hanging position.

  • Patent number: 7100507
Abstract: A flexographic rotary platen printing press for printing indicia on a web of flexible material moving along a longitudinal axis. The flexographic rotary platen printing press includes a print drum assembly that is affixed to a trolley that is moveable in a linear direction across the web generally transverse to the direction of the web movement. When the web is stopped, the print drum is caused to roll across the web that is sandwiched between the print drum and a flat, planar platen to print indicia onto the web in a line contact. A linear drive system causes the movement of the print drum assembly. The speed of the transverse movement is electronically coordinated to the speed of the rotation of the print drum as it moves across the web to carry out the printing operation.

  • Patent number: 7100861
Abstract: A position sensor and sensor assembly having a spool onto which is wound a plurality of individual windings to make up a cable coil. A free end of the cable extends through a guide for attachment to an object whose position is desired to be sensed. The cable passes through an elongated slot formed the guide and which is preferably formed at a predetermined angle with respect to the central axis of rotation of the spool. By means of the elongated slot, the individual windings can be wound about the spool without successive windings overlapping each other. The elongated slot further has an internal surface that has a minimum radius to prevent the cable from making too small a bend during the winding function.
