Abstract: A method of installing a piston position sensor proximate to a closed end of a hydraulic cylinder is provided. The sensor is attached to the face of a piston and that piston/sensor combination is inserted into the cylinder tube to position the sensor in the desired location. When properly located within the cylinder tube, the sensor is affixed to the cylinder tube by means of beveled holes in the sensor that receive bolts threadedly inserted through the cylinder tube to further properly align the sensor within the cylinder tube. When so affixed, the sensor is then detached from the piston so that the piston can thereafter move independently of the sensor. A fixture is also used that allows the assembler to accurately align the angular orientation of the sensor prior to being inserted into the cylinder tube.

The invention also concerns related aspects including processes for the preparation of the compounds, pharmaceutical compositions containing one or more of those compounds and especially their use as endothelin receptor antagonists.

Abstract: An engagement set includes a wedding band and an engagement ring to which the wedding band is removably coupled. The shank of the wedding band when joined together with the engagement ring may be inclined relative to the shank of the engagement ring to form an “X” configuration and thereby to symbolize a “kiss”. The engagement set may be joined by a locking mechanism formed of a locking feature on the wedding band and a corresponding recess on the inner surface of the front of the engagement ring. The locking feature and the recess may have an emotionally symbolic shape such as a heart shape or an “X”. There may be an inclined groove at an inner surface of the back of the engagement ring to accommodate the shank of the wedding band when the rings are coupled together.

Each of the end members is comprised of a truss having an upper wire and a lower wire. Each of the end members is joined at one end to one of the post receiving members and is joined at another end to another of the post receiving members. A pair of side members is disposed at opposite sides of the wire shelf. Each of the side members is joined at one end to one of the post receiving members that is joined to one of the end members and is joined at another end to another of the post receiving members that is joined to another of the end members. A plurality of wires is disposed atop and is joined to a top surface of the side members. At least one center support member is disposed between the side members and in parallel therewith. Abstract: The present invention provides novel monofunctional polyethylene glycol aldehydes for the pegylation of therapeutically active proteins. The pegylated protein conjugates that are produced, retain a substantial portion of their therapeutic activity and are less immunogenic than the protein from which the conjugate is derived. New syntheses for preparing such aldehydes are described.

Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for defining a bending or welding groove in a cutting blade. A pair of fixed blocks are fixed to a base of a cutting blade forming apparatus. A slider is slidably coupled to each fixed block, and a bit support block is slidably coupled to the slider. The slider and the bit support block are respectively operated by first and second operating mechanisms. First through fourth guide parts are formed on the fixed block, slider and bit support block, to constitute dovetail joints. The first guide parts of the fixed blocks and second guide parts of sliders are formed to have a slope, such that, as the sliders are lowered, they are horizontally moved toward each other. A lower portion of a broaching bit is formed as a supporting surface, and at least one broaching edge portion is formed above the supporting surface portion.

Abstract: A method for securing passwords, personal identification numbers and identifying patterns utilizes a MasterCode camouflaged within a grid which contains all the characters, symbols or pictograms of which the MasterCode is a subset. For securing numeric sequences, the MasterCode is comprised of ten characters randomly associated to a corresponding digit (including zero). The characters thereby associated with each numeric password are expanded into an ordinary, natural language word, a SecureWord using non-associated letters. The MasterCode is masked by its unique placement in a MasterGrid known only to the user. For securing passwords comprised of alpha numeric symbolic characters, each unique character, the MasterCode, is assigned a sequential number which becomes a sequence of positions in the MasterGrid with each MasterCode character placed in the appropriate position and the remainder of the character set filled in. SecureNumbers are the positions in the MasterGrid of each character in a password.

Abstract: A method for producing a purified Auricularia auricula Polysaccharide (AP) extract of Auricularia auricula (AA). A hydrated predetermined amount of AA is filtered and extracted, producing a first pre-extract. A plurality of additional hydrated predetermined amounts of AA is separately filtered and extracted to produce a plurality of additional pre-extracts. The pre-extracts are combined to form a first extract. The first extract is concentrated and suspended, forming a precipitate. The precipitate is purified to form a first filtrate, and repurified to form a second filtrate. The first and second filtrates are combined to form a first combined filtrate, which is concentrated, purified and dried to form a concentrated extract. The concentrated extract is purified to form a third filtrate, and repurified to form a fourth filtrate.

Abstract: A container closure device for facilitating withdrawal of a liquid from a collapsible sealed packet is disclosed. The device includes a needle guide and a septum retainer wherein the needle guide is fixable to an outer face of the packet and the septum retainer is fixable to an inner face of the packet in alignment with the needle guide. The needle guide includes a tube for receiving a needle and insures proper alignment of the needle. The septum retainer includes a septum chamber having a septum disposed therein.

Abstract: Encapsulation of an inner facing surface of a lead shield of a radiopharmaceutical pig. The inner facing surface defines a chamber in which is inserted a radiopharmaceutical syringe. The encapsulation protects the inner facing surface against contamination due to leaks of the contents of the radiopharmaceutical syringe and further obviates the need for a sharps container to enclose the syringe during transport. The outer facing surface may likewise be encapsulated and secured to the encapsulation of the inner facing surface.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to determine possible atrial fibrillation that includes detecting irregular pulse rhythms from a succession of time intervals each corresponding to a respective interval of time between successive pulse beats of a sequence of the pulse beats; analyzing the detected irregular pulse rhythms to make a determination of possible atrial fibrillation; indicating the possible atrial fibrillation from the determination. If a sphygmomanometer is used, a plurality of pulse beats may be detected with it including the sequence of pulse beats; and respiratory variation in systolic pressure of the pulse beats may be compensated by designating the succession of time intervals to exclude at least an initial one of the plurality of time intervals.

Abstract: A tapered infusion sleeve that has an orifice whose exterior margin is either rounded off, beveled, tapered, curved inclined or otherwise forms an angle with an adjacent exterior of the sleeve that is other than ninety degrees and other than substantially ninety degrees. As a result, the exterior margin is less likely to become caught or ensnared when being passed through an incision opening with a surgical instrument.

Abstract: Methods and compositions are disclosed for the intravaginal or rectal delivery of selected serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) to the systemic circulation. Such methods and compositions are useful in the treatment of depression, migraine headaches, chronic pain, psychoactive substance abuse disorders, pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and obsessive compulsive disorders. The compositions may be formulated for the immediate release or controlled release of SSRIs over an extended period of time. A preferred SSRI is fluoxetine.
