    Abstract: A transformer comprising a core, a primary winding and a secondary winding in which one of the windings, preferably the winding with the least coils, is formed from a tubular member formed in a plurality of coils; in the preferred embodiment of a step down transformer, the secondary winding is formed from a tubular member. A connector block at each end of the secondary winding includes an appropriate fluid passage and means for connecting a fluid coupling to the block so that the inlet and outlet of the fluid circulation system can be secured to the tubular member forming the secondary winding. The loops of the primary coil are interdigitally arranged with the loops of the secondary coil so that the fluid in the secondary coil absorbs heat from both the primary and secondary windings. Each loop of the secondary includes a bow so that adjacent ends of each loop of the primary are sandwiched between the bows.

    Abstract: A transformer system for resistance welding intended for installation on robotic devices comprises an auto transformer having a tap selection switch connected through electrical conductors to an isolation welding transformer located at the end of the robotic arm. The auto transformer is uniquely selected for the maximum efficiency thereof and the optimum reduction in the size of the conductors between the transformers. The isolation welding transformer is also optimally sized due to the reduction permissable by the previous interposition of the auto transformer in the welding system. Moreover, the isolation welding transformer comprises primary and secondary coils formed from tubular members each of which is cooled by a fluid coolant. Utilization of refrigerated coolant permits further reduction in size and mass, and increases electrical efficiency because of the unique design of the isolation welding transformer in which both primary and secondary windings are cooled by such fluid coolant.

    Abstract: A portable ice table having a platform comprised of a light-weight material with an outer insulated surface and a removable insulating cover. The platform includes a handle, a recessed dry storage compartment and a recessed ice storage compartment separated from the dry storage compartment by a separating member. A threaded orifice is provided between the ice storage compartment and the side of the platform for storing and draining water from the ice table. The ice table further includes supporting members fixedly secured to the bottom of the platform for setting the platform on a table and also includes legs pivotably secured to the platform to support the platform above the ground or floor. The legs are provided with retractable locking rings which frictionally engage the supporting member to secure the leg into position.

    Abstract: A fluid filtering device comprising a housing having an open top and defining an interior chamber while an inlet and an outlet on the housing are open to the chamber. A filter bag is removably insertable into the chamber through the open top of the housing and to a filtering position in which the filter element is positioned in between the inlet and the outlet. A rim around the outer periphery of the filter bag engages an inwardly extending flange formed on the housing to secure the filter bag to the housing. A cover is movable with respect to the housing between an open and a closed position so that in its closed position, the cover closes the open top of the housing. A tubular element is secured to the cover which engages the filter bag and pushes the filter bag away from the open top of the housing and to its filtering position as the cover is moved to its closed position.

    Abstract: An oil level sensing device is provided for use in conjunction with an engine having a cycling vacuum source, an oil reservoir and a dip stick guide tube extending upwardly from the oil reservoir. The device comprises a housing defining a chamber while a valve plate having a port divides the housing chamber into upper and lower chambers. An elongated fluid conduit is secured to the housing and open to the lower chamber while the other end of the conduit is insertable into the dip stick guide tube and the end of conduit is positioned at a predetermined level with respect to the oil reservoir. A piston is slidably mounted within the upper chamber and is movable between an upper and a lower position. A spring urges the piston towards its lower position during low vacuum mode while the engine vacuum source, connected to the upper chamber, urges the piston towards its upper position during high vacuum mode.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a chemical solution and method which, when introduced into the cooling system of a liquid cooled engine, removes oxidized material such as sludge and rust by chemical reduction without draining or flushing the cooling system. The solution comprises a liquid carrier, such as water, which is miscible with the liquid of the cooling system, phosphoric acid and zinc oxide. The carrier constitutes about 70 percent by weight of the chemical solution, the phosphoric acid constitutes about 26-27 percent by weight of the solution and the zinc oxide constitutes about 3-4 percent by weight of the solution.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a device for generating an electrical output signal representative of the flow rate through a fluid flow meter of the type having a mechanical output member movable in an amount proportional to the fluid flow rate. The device comprises the U-shaped magnet having a north and south pole and a Hall effect transducer positioned between the poles of the magnet. The transducer produces an electrical signal representative of the distance between the transducer and one of the magnetic poles. The magnet in turn is connected to the mechanical output member from the flow meter so that the magnet moves in unison with the output member from the flow meter thus varying the transducer electrical output. The output from the transducer is electrically connected to a conventional electrical indicator to produce an indication of the fluid flow rate through the flow meter.

    Abstract: A robot of the type having a housing and a manipulator mounted to the housing and movable along a plurality of predetermined axes of movement. A drive mechanism is associated with the each axis of movement for moving, upon actuation, the manipulator along its respective axis of movement. The actuation of the drive mechanisms is controlled by a program drum which is rotatably mounted to the housing. A plurality of cam segments are adjustably secured to the drum at both axially and circumferentially spaced positions thus forming a plurality of axially spaced, segmented cam rings. A plurality of cam followers are secured to the housing so that one cam follower registers with each cam ring. Each cam follower is connected with an actuator so that, when the cam follower engages a cam segment on the drum, the actuator activates the drive mechanism corresponding to the particular cam ring. Conversely, the actuator deactivates its associated drive mechanism when the cam follower disengages from the cam segment.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an aquarium filtering system having a pump housing and a filter assembly which is detachably secured to the pump housing for cleaning or replacement. The pump housing includes two conduits which register with and telescopically receive two conduits on the filter assembly as the filter assembly is connected to the pump housing thus fluidly connecting the pump housing and filter assembly together. A yoke is slidably mounted to the pump housing and movable between a locking and unlocking position. In its locking position, the yoke engages two locking tabs on the filter assembly thus mechanically attaching the filter assembly to the pump housing. Conversely, in its unlocking position, the yoke enables the filter assembly to be removed from the pump housing.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an infinitely variable rotary drive transmission having an input member and an output member rotatably mounted to a housing. A slide is linearly reciprocally mounted to the housing in a direction substantially radial with respect to the axis of the input member. The slide in turn is connected to and rotatably drives the output member through a pair of cooperating clutch assemblies. A bottle screw varies the degree of articulation of the articulated shaft which, in turn, varies the stroke of the slide per revolution of the input shaft to thereby vary the rotational speed of the output member. A shift assembly is operable to reverse the direction of rotation of the output member as desired.

    Abstract: A variable geometry device for use with the turbine nozzle of a turbine engine of the type having a support housing and a combustion chamber contained within the support housing. A pair of spaced walls in the support housing define an annular and radially extending nozzle passageway. The outer end of the nozzle passageway is open to the combustion chamber while the inner end of the nozzle passageway is open to one or more turbine stages. A plurality of circumferentially spaced nozzle vanes are mounted to one of the spaced walls and protrude across the nozzle passageway. An annular opening is formed around the opposite spaced wall and an annular ring is axially slidably mounted within the opening. A motor is operatively connected to this ring and, upon actuation, axially displaces the ring within the nozzle passageway.
