  • Patent number: 3981274
Abstract: Folding booms are attached to a hub and wheel. The drive wheel of an electric motor contacts a plane face of the wheel, and the motor is mounted to move the drive wheel radially over the face of the wheel. Movement of the motor causes change in speed of rotation of the booms, the drive arrangement functioning as a continuously variable transmission. The drive wheel also functions as a clutch to limit the force to be applied to an animal that is being led. To provide clearance for fire equipment and other vehicles, the booms can be folded or raised upwardly about mounting hinges. The force required for folding is applied by a hydraulic jack operating through a central shaft and cables.

  • Patent number: 3974592
Abstract: A rotating frame animal trap is held between a pair of spaced prongs. Each prong has a pair of pegs protruding inwardly to straddle a respective pivot of the trap. The prongs are held together by a ring that slides into position by gravity after a trap is positioned between the prongs. The prongs are inserted in the ground to hold the trap at a desired height.

  • Patent number: 3961435
Abstract: A translucent display panel shows a floor plan of contrasting tape or marks indicating positions of display cabinets. The floor plan is divided into small areas to which numbers are assigned, and the numbers are displayed in a store directory under respective merchandise located in the number areas. An electrical control panel having contacts marked by the same numbers is connected to control illumination of lamps. Lamp mounting means below the translucent display panel facilitates placing a lamp below any desired one of the small areas of the display panel, and wiring is completed from the numbered contacts of the control panel and the respective lamps. Both the translucent display panel and the lamp mounting means are easily removable from their cabinet to facilitate changes in the floor plan and the positions of the lamps.

  • Patent number: 3960027
Abstract: A supporting strip to which is applied upward spring tension has an inwardly inclined heel member to be urged against the heel of a bicyclist. The heel member permits upward force on the crank of a bicycle such that driving force can be applied from each pedal to the crank most of the time during each revolution.

  • Patent number: 3957304
Abstract: Vehicle seat assemblies, including seats and their suspensions that are to be mounted to rigid structure of vehicles, have restraint ties completely contained within the assemblies. The ties restrict the amount of upward and forward movement of the seats when they and their occupants are subject to abnormal forces when the vehicles roll over or are involved in other accidents. Each restraint tie is made from strong, flexible material such as wire rope; one end of a tie is connected to one frame of an assembly at the top of its suspension, and the other end is connected to another frame at the bottom of the suspension. The latter frame may be the movable member of a rugged fore-and-aft adjusting mechanism. In addition, pelvic restraint belts are connected to a frame at the top of the suspension.

  • Patent number: 3950653
Abstract: A cylindrical housing contains both a circuit board and a pair of capacitive sensing electrodes. The pair of electrodes are adjacent the inside wall near an end that is to be wholly or partly covered with granular material in a container. Since an electric field is relatively concentrated about the electrodes, compared with the divergent field about the type having a single protruding electrode and depending on external ground planes, the circuits of the instrument show presence of material repeatedly quite close to a predetermined level. The unitary construction affords protection and permits the capacitive sensing electrodes to be mounted on the circuit board over a printed circuit tab.

  • Patent number: 3942275
Abstract: The pages of a book are placed on a long strip of paper for making a scroll. The machine for winding the scroll has rollers positioned for displaying any desired portion to be read. A motor for rotating the rollers is controlled by a magnetic switch that is easily operated by inflating an air bag. The bag may be inflated either by having a person squeeze a bulb connected through a tube to the bag, or by having a severely handicapped person hold the end of a tube in his mouth and blow into the tube.
