  • Patent number: 8330124
Abstract: A fluorescence detection device for a flow site meter emits laser light intensity-modulated in accordance with a modulation signal and acquires a fluorescent signal of fluorescence emitted from a measurement object that passes through a measurement point of the laser light. The fluorescence detection device generates, separately from the modulation signal, a reference signal having a frequency different from a frequency of the modulation signal and a phase in synchronization with a phase of the modulation signal. The fluorescence detection device determines a fluorescent relaxation time of the measurement object from the fluorescent signal by using the reference signal.

  • Patent number: 8322131
Abstract: An internal combustion engine exhaust gas cleaning apparatus is basically provided with a NOx trapping catalytic converter, a sulfur poisoning amount estimating section and a sulfur poisoning removal section. The NOx trapping catalytic converter is arranged in an exhaust passage to trap NOx contained in an exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust passage when an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas is lean and to release trapped NOx when an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas is rich. The sulfur poisoning amount estimating section estimates an estimated sulfur poisoning amount of sulfur poisoning of the NOx trapping catalytic converter based on a fuel consumption amount and an oil consumption amount. The sulfur poisoning removal section raises a temperature of the NOx trapping catalytic converter to a sulfur poisoning removal temperature based on the estimated sulfur poisoning amount to remove sulfur poisoning from the NOx trapping catalytic converter.

  • Patent number: 8323743
Abstract: An acrylic-fiber finish for use in carbon-fiber production contributes to high tenacity of resultant carbon fiber. The acrylic-fiber finish for carbon-fiber production includes an epoxy-polyether-modified silicone and a surfactant. The weight ratios of the epoxy-polyether-modified silicone and the surfactant in the total of the non-volatile components of the finish respectively range from 1 to 95 wt % and from 5 to 50 wt %. The carbon fiber production method includes a fiber production process for producing an acrylic fiber for carbon-fiber production by applying the finish to an acrylic fiber which is a basic material for the acrylic fiber for carbon-fiber production; an oxidative stabilization process for converting the acrylic fiber produced in the fiber production process into oxidized fiber in an oxidative atmosphere at 200 to 300 deg.C.; and a carbonization process for carbonizing the oxidized fiber in an inert atmosphere at 300 to 2,000 deg.C.

  • Patent number: 8326481
Abstract: A vehicle driving assist system calculates a risk potential indicative of a degree of convergence between a host vehicle and a preceding obstacle. Then, the system performs a driver notification operation that produces a driver notification stimulus based on the risk potential such as decreasing the driving force exerted against the vehicle as the risk potential increases and increasing an actuation reaction force exerted on the accelerator pedal during its operation as the risk potential increases. If a failure is detected in a reaction force generating device serving to add a reaction force to the accelerator pedal in accordance with the risk potential, then the system corrects an engine torque characteristic such that the engine torque does not increase even if the accelerator pedal is depressed to suppress an odd feeling in the vehicle performance by the driver when a failure occurs in the reaction force generating device.

  • Patent number: 8325330
Abstract: Optical fiber lines of a PON system are monitored with a remote fiber test system having a branch-type optical fiber line constituting the PON system and test equipment connected to the branch-type optical fiber line. The test equipment includes a light source, an optical splitter, a detecting part, and a control unit. The light source outputs light having an optical coherence function of a comb shape that is formed as a result of the optical frequency being modulated by a modulation signal of period p. The optical splitter receives light output from the light source and splits the light into probe light and reference light. The detecting part detects interference light that occurs from mutual interference between the reference light and reflected light. Upon detection of the interference light, the detecting part converts the interference light into an electrical signal.
