  • Patent number: 6572257
Abstract: An electronic device that is attached to a mixing machine for calculating the weight of the material being mixed and the number of auger revolutions that has occurred during the mixing process, and a method therefor. The electronic device can display the weight and auger revolutions, and store such information in the device memory or an external memory. The data relating to mixing a particular batch of ingredients can be stored in the memory and used to determine operator productivity and mixer maintenance schedules. An alarm alerts the mixer operator when a predetermined number of revolutions has occurred.

  • Patent number: 6540666
Abstract: An adaptive heart binding device and method for the treatment of heart failure. The device has a non-distendible jacket to prevent the heart from expanding beyond a preselect volume. A first chamber corresponding the right ventricle and a second chamber corresponding to the left ventricle are located between the heart and the jacket. The first and second chamber can be inflated to exert additional pressure on the heart over time without additional surgery. The gradual pressure increase hemodynamically remodels the heart so that is performs more like a non-diseased heart. The binding device can be used as a bridge to or in place of heart transplant.

  • Patent number: 6539630
Abstract: Vehicle bed liners are widely utilized to cover the beds of utility vehicles and protect the bed from damage. Bed liners are conventionally secured by nails or screws which can easily vibrate loose and expose the vehicle bed to dirt and moisture which facilitates rust and corrosion. The present invention provides a method of securing the bed liner to the vehicle bed without the gaps and seems formed by conventional coupling methods.

  • Patent number: 6527427
Abstract: A device for setting the distance between a first and a second component, in particular for the horizontal and vertical setting of motor vehicle headlamps, includes a setting screw which is connected to the first component, and which engages the second component. The drive for the setting screw has a slipping clutch that prevents overadjustment of the distance setting device after a maximum torque is reached. The slipping clutch prevents the transmission of torque to the setting screw by slipping, and thereby prevents damage to the distance setting device.

  • Patent number: 6500460
Abstract: This invention relates to formulations for the prevention of infection and/or abnormal conditions of mucosae and/or skin caused by any pathogen and/or any disease, and more particularly for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections specially HIV and HSV. This invention also relates to formulations for the treatment of infection and/or abnormal conditions of skin and/or mucosae and more particularly for the treatment of herpetic lesions. The formulations could be used as a prophylactic agent to prevent accidental infection of health care workers. The formulations could be used for the healing and/or treatment of burn wounds and prevention of further infection. This invention also relates to the development of a unique vaginal/ano-rectal applicator for the uniform delivery of any topical formulations to treat and/or prevent any infection and/or abnormal conditions of mucosa cavity caused by any pathogen and/or disease.

  • Patent number: 6497567
Abstract: A multi-purpose processing apparatus able to perform both an injection molding operation and a cutting/forming operation. The multi-purpose apparatus places a forming operation into unused space within the injection molding machine, thereby utilizing the already present injection molding clamping pressure to pressure form parts. The apparatus results in a process which combines the three steps of forming, cutting, and injection molding into one continuous operation performed within the injection molding machine, as well as eliminating the need for numerous pre-injection molding steps.

  • Patent number: 6490849
Abstract: A powered lawn mower having a frame, an engine mounted to the frame, a set of front wheels and a set of rear drive wheels connected to the frame. Attached to the rear of the frame is a standing platform positioned in front of the rear wheel axles so that the center of gravity is moved forward over the center of the mower with an operator standing on the platform. The positioning of the platform substantially improves the stability and safety of the mower. The platform, capable of supporting the weight of a standing operator, is mounted to the frame of the mower with a plurality of springs mounted between the platform and the frame to cushion the ride of the operator. The mower may also include as seat assembly removably attachable to the frame of the mower and positioned substantially above the platform. The seat assembly includes an attachment mechanism designed to be removably attached to the frame, so that an operator can choose between a standing position and a seated position.

  • Patent number: 6474850
Abstract: A headlamp adjuster for adjusting the position of a reflector includes a base housing with a slide positioned at least partially therein. The base housing has mounting tabs so that the adjuster can be secured to the back of a headlamp assembly support frame. The base housing has channels along its sides in which rails extending from the slide are disposed. A ball stud extends from the slide, the ball of which engages the reflector within the headlamp assembly such that axial movement of the ball stud causes movement of the reflector. Movement of the slide is caused by rotation of an adjustment screw that is threaded into the slide but held in axial position with respect to the base housing. The adjuster may include a vehicle headlamp aiming device (“VHAD”) if required for the particular application.

  • Patent number: 6473169
Abstract: An integrated leak and vision inspection system is provided that accurately and efficiently inspects a bottle or other container for manufacturing defects. The system provides a series of visual inspection stations with cameras and lighting that are integrated onto a rotary inspection system for on-line inspection of containers. A microprocessor in data communication with each of the inspection stations receives and analyzes image data of the particular area or parameter of the container being inspected or tested, and generates data relating to the container based upon predetermined criteria. The stations are arranged to provide an integrated and fully automated and efficient inspection system. In the preferred embodiment, the system is structured with a first station integrated with an entry starwheel to inspect the top seal surface of the container.

  • Patent number: 6460994
Abstract: An underwater diving mask comprising a face piece formed of suitable material so as to substantially conform to the contour of a diver's face, and a strap for releasably securing the face piece against the diver's face. The face piece has at least one opening formed in the forward part thereof for receiving a lens therein. The lens has an inner surface that is substantially flat (i.e. planar), and an outer surface that is slightly convex to thereby compensate for the magnification problem caused by the different indices of refraction between water and air. Preferably, the diopter value of the convex outer surface of the lens is between 0 and 1.0 so as to remove the lens from the domain of corrective lenses. A secondary corrective lens can, however, be affixed to the planar inner surface of the lens for those divers who would otherwise require corrective lenses.
