  • Patent number: 5803458
Abstract: A maze game, comprising a game board having a grid that defines a plurality of spaces. The spaces each have a colored dot, each dot either white, black, or red. The dots are covered by a playing piece during normal game play. The playing pieces each have a square base and a conical handle. Game play commences by having one player lift one of the playing pieces to reveal the dot beneath. If a black dot is revealed, the player replaces the playing piece and lifts another. If a white dot is revealed, the player replaces the playing piece and another player lifts one of the playing pieces. If a red dot is revealed, the player has won.

  • Patent number: 5797650
Abstract: A sun shade for attaching to a chair and providing shade to an individual seated in the chair. The sun shade comprises a rigid horizontal cross member having telescoping vertical arm assemblies slideably and pivotally secured to each end. The telescoping vertical arm assemblies have splint assemblies affixed at the lower end, the splint assemblies capable of engaging a chair. A rotating shade pin is in communication with the horizontal cross member and has a shade screen secured to it. A pair of shade screen rails frame the edges of the shade screen.

  • Patent number: 5792047
Abstract: A bio-feedback system to support the collection of a plurality of physiological parameter values of a subject being monitored. The physiological parameter values collected are processed to determine and present to the subject a continuously updated succession of presentation states, possibly multimedia in nature, in order to attempt to enhance the bio-feedback capability of the system. The system includes a digitizing camera arranged to continually capture an image of the subject. The presentation states, which include the captured image of the subject, are accented by color accents including curved bands of color coextensive with and juxtaposed to the outline of the image of the subject. The color of the bands may be appropriately altered in a predefined manner as determined by changes in the physiological parameter values collected and processed.

  • Patent number: 5788475
Abstract: An aluminum tank buoyancy compensation system, for use with aluminum tanks having a flat bottom, a diameter and a boot attached at the flat bottom, for offsetting the inherent positive buoyancy of an empty aluminum scuba tank, comprising a weight disk having substantially the same diameter as the tank bottom. The weight disk is inserted into the boot, and the boot is replaced onto the bottom of the tank. The weight disk is trapped between the boot and tank bottom, ballasting the tank sufficiently to compensate for the positive buoyancy of the aluminum tank.

  • Patent number: 5778903
Abstract: An acrylic cutter, having a distinct proximal segment used as a handle and a distinct distal segment having a flat top portion and a concave bottom portion. A channel recessed through the mid-section of the top portion of the distal segment produces a thin sharp edge. When said edge is pressed onto the tip of an acrylic fingernail, the impression of a perfect curved line is created on the acrylic nail, thus providing a guideline for creating a flawless french manicure look or similar design using acrylic on the nail.

  • Patent number: 5772445
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting and measuring disturbances in an electromagnetic field caused by the electrostatic potential of a charged object moving the field includes a DC source, a loop/solenoid coil, and a metering unit. The DC source charges the loop/solenoid coil, and thereby creates the electromagnetic field that emanates from the coil. The metering unit is provided to (indirectly) sense and quantify the disturbances in the electromagnetic field of the loop/solenoid coil by indicating a change in a current flow through the coil. The apparatus may be configured with a housing to enclose a plurality of components of the apparatus including the DC source, the loop/solenoid coil, and the metering unit.

  • Patent number: 5769782
Abstract: A retractor comprising a first blade and a second blade, the first blade and second blade having a first blade tip and second blade tip, respectively. The first blade and second blade attach at a pivot point for allowing the first blade tip and second blade tip to move toward and away from each other to create an opening having an opening magnitude. The second blade has a ruler extension having ruler indicia, and the first blade has an arrow end opposite the first blade tip. The arrow end refers to the ruler indicia to indicate the opening magnitude of the retractor. The second blade has a handle track. A handgrip is attached to a bar which is slidably mounted in the handle track. The ruler indicia on the second blade also extends along the handle track.

  • Patent number: 5768705
Abstract: An inflatable safety apparatus comprising an exterior shell and a chamber located inside the exterior shell. Inflation means, capable of inflating the apparatus are contained within the exterior shell. A tether is secured to the inflation means. In the event of an emergency at a high altitude location, an individual secured an end of the tether to a fixed object at the location, enters the chamber and exits the location via a window or balcony to free-fall to the ground below. As the tether becomes taught and disengages the inflation means, the inflation means are actuated and cause the exterior shell to fill with gas and inflate. When the apparatus strikes the ground, the individual contained within the chamber is unharmed due to the protective layer of gas which surrounds the chamber and is contained by the exterior shell.
