  • Patent number: 6164970
Abstract: A selectively transparent map system, for use by a driver in an automobile having an automobile windshield, comprising a map having map indicia printed thereupon. The map is selectively transparent so that when the map is held against the windshield in front of the driver, and the map is viewed at a first angle, the driver can read the map indicia while simultaneously watching the road by looking directly through the map. However, when the map is viewed at a second angle, the driver can read the map indicia, but cannot see through the map. The map thus includes a selective transparency means which preferably includes a grating having a plurality of blocking members which allow light and images to be easily transmitted through the map at the first angle, but substantially block light from being transmitted through the map at the second angle.

  • Patent number: 6167413
Abstract: A wearable computer system includes a computing unit that is used with a visor mounted display system. The computing unit is structured to enable a user to grasp and support the computing unit, while simultaneously providing commands and information by way of a user interface (of the computing unit). The computing unit of the system may be housed within a multi-compartment case which is structured to provide access to the user interface. The case is further configured with a storage compartment to enable the user to securely store the visor mounted display when not being used. An auxiliary unit may also be included, which may be connected to the computing unit, to enable a user to enhance and augment the basic architecture of the wearable computing system.

  • Patent number: 6163940
Abstract: A shoe fringe clamp comprising a top arm, a bottom arm, a joint that allows the top arm to extend upward away from the bottom arm, and a clasp assembly that secures a smaller extension extending from the top arm to a hollow bottom extension extending from the bottom arm. Rubber strips are positioned along the inner surfaces of the top arm and bottom arm. While in the open position, the bottom arm of the shoe fringe clamp is placed under a layer of fringes found on the top portion of a shoe and the top arm is descended onto the bottom arm, thus fastening the clasp assembly. The fringes are then secured between the top arm and the bottom arm. The rubber strips protect the material of the fringes from damage.

  • Patent number: 6152842
Abstract: A hockey puck designed for street and court play reduces frictional resistance between the peripheral puck edge and the play surface, substitutes more durable materials that better emulate puck motion on ice surfaces and emulates the physical properties of an ice hockey puck. The puck incorporates a plurality of runners, preferably fabricated from acetal plastic or other like material, and having a partial disk-shaped exposed surface. The runners are secured within a vulcanized rubber body with the properties of a traditional ice hockey puck, to preserve the authenticity and feel of ice hockey play when playing on non-ice surfaces. Runners engage the periphery of the top and bottom surfaces of the puck body. Symmetrical and equidistant placement of the individual runners better allows even puck maneuverability. The top and bottom sets of runners, are injection molded into the puck body to form one solid piece through the puck, and are also aligned to further balance the puck for dynamic equilibrium in play.
