Abstract: A resistor grid suitable for dynamic braking of diesel electric locomotives includes an upright rectangular frame with top and bottom members of insulating material and a strip of resistance material fan-folded into vertical flights between the top and bottom members. Fixtures attached to the top member suspend the fan-folded strip by its top folds and fittings affixed to the bottom member tension the fan-folded strip through its bottom folds.

Abstract: An animal slip collar made of flexible material such as chain links has a ring at one end through which the material is passed to form a loop. An intermediate section of the collar is made of material heavier than the end sections but dimensioned to pass through the ring. When the loop is passed around the animal's neck the extra weight of the intermediate material causes the loop to adjust itself so that the intermediate section is at its low point and the ring is opposite on the back of the animal's neck.
Abstract: Each vehicle of a transport system is provided with a short range transmitter which continuously transmits the vehicles route designation in digitally encoded form, preferably by short wave radio. Some or all stops are each provided with a short range receiver decoder and display means. All transmitters and receivers operate on the same frequency. The receiver stores codes for all routes with stops at the receiver location, matches encoded signals it receives with the stored codes and displays the matched designation.
Abstract: A resistor grid for diesel electric locomotives and the like has a rigid frame comprising outer metal side pieces and one or more pairs of inner metal side pieces spaced from each other, and columns of resistor ribbon fan-folded between each outer and outermost inner side piece, and between certain inner side pieces. Supporting means interengaging each fold of the ribbons are insulated from and carried on each side by a metal strip which rides on its adjoining side piece so as to accommodate expansion of the resistor ribbon. The ribbon is indented between folds to stiffen it and increase its span and may by provided with a support rod centered between its side pieces. The resistor grid is preferably positioned in forced air cooled resistor banks face-to-face with conventional narrow span grids, and improves the cooling of such conventional banks.
