Abstract: Provided are a method and an apparatus for searching neighboring Bluetooth® devices through an external terminal having programming capability. The inventive method provides for a slave Bluetooth® device to receive, from the external terminal, the MAC address and optional device name from a target Bluetooth® device.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method offering a specialized modular sled systems for combination, both in a physically proximate sense, and electronically peripheral devices such as a compact bar code scanner, magnetic strip reader, IC card reader, RF tag reader, charging base etc., without the need for cables, and with structural capabilities that offer the ability for a user to employ the same in substantially simultaneous fashion through a consolidated physical integration that eliminates awkward manual manipulation of the same.
Abstract: A system and method for the provision of communication across multiple devices in a multiplicity of communication environments, whether in a serial interface environment, or whether used in Bluetooth protocol-based devices, as well as in other communication devices, (ZigBee/WiFi/Wimax, etc.) that normally cannot readily establish such data exchange. The invention accomplishes this through inventive techniques and a circuit that uses multi-state voltage levels to multiplex RS232 communication between at least two, but normally three or more RS232 devices. To this end, the present invention enables a device having RS232 connection between at least two sub-systems, while each sub-system communicates with other external RS232 devices using same RS232 connection between at least two sub-systems.
Abstract: A process for identifying a normalized insurance quality index of present and prospective insurance policies for an insurance book that can be utilized to more accurately predict present and future profitability on a standardized basis.
Abstract: The present invention relates to reversible hydrogel systems for medical applications. Particularly, the hydrogel of the present invention is made up of copolymers that can be a hydrogel when in an oxidized state and can be a solution when in a reduced state. A solution of the copolymer can be oxidized to form a hydrogel; and the hydrogel can be reduced to form a solution of the copolymer. The solution can be dehydrated to produce the dry copolymer for storage. Furthermore, the present invention also relates to methods of making and using the reversible hydrogel systems.

Abstract: The present invention relates to reversible hydrogel systems. Particularly, the hydrogel of the present invention is made up of copolymers that can be a hydrogel when in an oxidize state and can be a solution when in a reduced state. A solution of the copolymer can be oxidized to form a hydrogel; and the hydrogel can be reduced to form a solution of the copolymer. Reversible nanogels can also be formed from a dilute solution of the copolymers. The hydrogel is formed with nanoparticles embedded therein to form a nanocomposite whose refractive index and modulus can be controlled by varying the amounts of nanoparticles and the polymer concentration of the hydrogel, respectively.

Abstract: Provided are a method and an apparatus for searching neighboring Bluetooth devices through a portable terminal having a Bluetooth module. The inventive method addresses neighboring Bluetooth devices by establishing fixed device name and variable controller serial number, or other unique identifier.
Abstract: The present invention allows a user to place an order on an internal computer system or through a web site automatically by scanning UPC/EAN or product ID barcodes, without the need to modify supplier or other party websites. As such, a compact optical code reader with associated software is disclosed having multiple functions and is capable of performing various data processing functions involving scanned data. The system includes user and supplier identifiers which are employed to facilitate sales transactions.
Abstract: A multi-use labeling support structure having a support structure that includes an embossed resin film made without using a coated release substance (e.g., release coatings such as silicone coatings, added waxes or release agents). The embossed resin film thereof has a sufficiently high Ra factor and reduced contact surface area so that it will allow release of an adhesive affixed element without leaving any substantial adhesive residue on the embossed surface when removed.
Abstract: A system and method for the provision for the auto detection and data exchange within different data transmission environments, such as those involving serial devices, Bluetooth-based devices, ZigBee-based devices, WiFi-based devices and/or WiMax-based devices is provided for in the present invention.
Abstract: An eyeglass retention device that allows eyewear to be securely worn and alternately securely retained on headwear. This device provides the above in a sporty, practical, yet low profile manner for all types of eyewear users, and with all types of headwear.
Abstract: The occurrence of recursive loops between network elements are detected and prevented. One or more queries are generated that are sent between the network elements. One or more of the network elements detect the imminent occurrence of a recursive loop between the network elements, and prevent the recursive loop by generating an intensional answer in response to the query. The intensional answer contains rules.
Abstract: This invention provides a technique to reduce echoes not adequately attenuated by echo cancellers during initial periods of voice communication. Signals transmitted across communication networks are often reflected back to the caller resulting in echo. Echo cancellers are employed in the communication system to cancel this effect in order to maintain a high quality transmission. However, echo cancellers require time to detect, adapt, and effectively remove echo, often resulting in echo during the initial moments of the call and thereby degrading the quality of service. By installing an attenuation device into the communication system, all signals that pass through it are reduced to a preset value for a set period of time. This reduces any echo below a detectable threshold. After the period of time expires, the attenuation device allows the signal to pass unaffected, by which time the echo cancellers have adaptively adjusted to any echoes in the system.
