Abstract: An improved non-toxic soft tissue filler is provided. The soft non-toxic tissue filler consists of spherically shaped solid particles having a textured surface of a size range of between about 32 and 90 microns (depending on the concentration that is desired). The particles are suspended evenly in a gel as a carrier. The solid particles are preferably a non-ceramic cured polymer such as polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). The gel is a combination of a cellulose polysaccharide such as carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and an alcohol such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) dissolved in water or some other solvent. The filler is used by injection in order to augment a patient's soft tissue as well as to correct soft tissue defects.
Abstract: The acquisition and reproduction units of the system are interconnected by means of a network in order to survey and regenerate the outline of any kind of object and to reproduced it either virtually in a CAD 3D system or materially in plastic, composite or papery material.
Abstract: An air deflection apparatus for reduction of vehicular air drag comprises at least one air deflection element coupled to a rear portion of the vehicle but not to the rear-facing surface of the vehicle or, in other embodiments, at least one air deflection element coupled to a rear portion of the vehicle but not to any rear door which the vehicle may have. The air deflection elements are displaceable, preferably in unison, between a retracted position and at least one deployed position in which the air deflection elements intersect with the air flowing around the top and sides, and preferably also the bottom, of the vehicle, and in which they divert that airflow in a manner that enhances the aerodynamic characteristics of the vehicle and thereby improves its fuel economy, resulting in a reduction in fuel cost.
Abstract: A lifting system for a window covering has a movable shaft disposed within a cradle that is held within a head rail. The movable shaft has an end portion and a lift cord wrapping portion. A lift cord is connected to the movable shaft. A transition member is disposed between the end portion and the lift cord wrapping portion. The transition member acts as a ramp to facilitate migration of the lift cord to the lift cord wrapping portion once bird nesting has occurred.

Abstract: A device (1) for safe data transmission to railway beacons has a first and a second circuit section (1a, 1b) independent of and galvanically separate from each other, and each having: a microprocessor (6a, 6b) selection stage (2a, 2b) receiving information signals relative to the status of a portion of a railway line, and generating at least one telegram for transmission to a beacon; and a control stage (3a, 3b) comparing the telegrams generated by the first and second circuit section (1a, 1b) for enabling/disabling data transmission to the beacon. The first circuit section (1a) also has a transmission enabling stage (4, 5, 17), which allows transmission to the beacon of the telegram generated by the first circuit section (1a), in the event the comparison performed by the control stage (3a, 3b) is successful.

Abstract: A method for controlling operation of a CPAP apparatus. The apparatus has a blower (2), a patient interface (6), an air delivery conduit (8) for delivering air from the blower (2) to the patient interface (6), a sensor (4p) for determining the pressure in the patient interface (6), and a control mechanism (15) that causes air to be delivered at a desired pressure to the patient interface (6) and that detects transitions between inhalation and exhalation of a respiratory cycle of a patient in order to synchronise the blower output with the patient's efforts. In one form the CPAP apparatus provides pressure in accordance with a bi-level waveform with at least one characterising parameter of the waveform being automatically adjusted in accordance with indications of sleep disordered breathing. The indications of sleep disordered breathing can be one or more of snoring, apnea, hypopnea, and flow limitation.

Abstract: An exercise device for strengthening the core or midsection of the body that is suitable for use in a professional work environment. The exercise device comprises a domed seat positioned atop a plurality of baffled sections. The domed seat is deformable, allowing it to support and conform to the buttocks of a user when sitting on the device. The baffled sections are also deformable, allowing the seat to shift in all directions along a horizontal plane as a user's weight naturally shifts while sitting on the device. As the baffled sections deform and the seat persistently shifts over the course of a given period of time, a user's core muscles repeatedly tense in order to stabilize the body. The constant tension of the muscles over that period of time simulates a workout, particularly in the midsection of the body.
Abstract: Construction systems for erecting building structures comprise a plurality of prefabricated interconnectable modular building units, each unit comprising a frame shaped as a rectangular parallelopiped and comprised of framing members and a plurality of nodes, each node situated at a corner of said frame for selective interconnection with other units, the frame having at least one attachment point separate from the nodes for selective attachment to the frame of at least one adjacent unit, the nodes and the exterior dimensions of the frame conforming to ISO shipping standards such that each unit is transportable using the ISO intermodal transportation system, and such that when the units are aggregated horizontally and vertically and adjacent units are interconnected, a building structure comprising at least one habitable space is formed.
Abstract: A rail track crossing comprising a support element (29) associated with each rail (11) of a rail track and configured to be supported from a sleeper (13) whereby the support element extends to each side of each rail, the support element having an engagement portion (31) which is to be at each side of the respective rail, a set of panels comprising a pair of lateral panels (37) and a central panel (39) wherein the central panel is to be received between the rails and supported upon the support elements and to be engaged by the engagement portions, the lateral panels being intended to be located to the sides of the rail track to be engaged with the engagement portion located at the respective side, wherein when the lateral panels and the central panel are in position their upper surfaces jointly provide a substantially continuous surface across the rail track.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating sleep disordered breathing. An arousal index is determined for use in an outer loop of a control algorithm, the arousal index being a measure of the frequency of sleep arousals. The respiratory airflow signal in an inner loop of the control algorithm is monitored to detect an airway obstruction. If the arousal index is high, then the sensitivity of obstruction detection and/or the aggressiveness of the treatment is increased, and if the arousal index is low, then the sensitivity of the obstruction detection and/or the aggressiveness of the treatment is decreased.
