Abstract: A dimming control circuit for dimming light emitting diodes receives an AC input voltage signal from a dimming circuit. The control circuit includes a power stage and a current control loop coupled to the power stage. An AC detector is operable to detect an instantaneous value of the AC input voltage signal and to generate a signal indicating whether the AC input voltage signal is present or absent. A current control circuit is operable responsive to the signal to adjust the operation of the current control loop and to control current through the light emitting diodes to achieve the desired dimming, and to prevent inrush current on the AC input voltage signal.

Abstract: A digital amplitude modulator. The digital amplitude modulator is configured to modulate the amplitude of an input carrier signal based on input digital data and generate a corresponding output signal. The digital amplitude modulator includes a first variable gain amplifier for receiving the input carrier signal and generating a corresponding first amplified carrier signal, a second variable gain amplifier for receiving the input digital data and generating corresponding digital amplitude control data and a plurality of selectively activatable amplifier stages. Each amplifier stage receives a replica of the first amplified carrier signal and generates a corresponding second amplified carrier signal when activated. The output signal corresponds to a combination of the second amplified carrier signals generated by the activated amplifier stages.

Abstract: An apparatus having a microphone and a mute circuit (not shown in detail here) operable to be actuated by a rotating door assembly. The apparatus provides a mute circuit suitable to mute the audio microphone when the rotating door assembly is in a closed position and unmute the audio microphone when the rotating door assembly is not in the closed position. Additionally, the mute circuit is impervious to generating audible disturbances in the microphone signal when the rotating assembly door is rotated between open and closed positions. This advantageously allows for the microphone to essentially transition to off when the rotating door assembly is closed and transition to on when the rotating door assembly is open and do so without additional audio disturbance.

Abstract: A gateway 11 for using non-IP digital telephone handsets 10 with an IP call controller (“PBX”) 12, 24, 42. The gateway may be implemented to work with any non-IP digital telephone handset and any IP call controller. The call controller may be a public protocol IP Centrex call controller 24 or a proprietary protocol call controller 12, 42. The gateway is programmable so that a single hardware unit can be programmed after it is plugged in to work with any such devices. The programming is accomplished via IP download from a server on the global IP network 23. The gateway may be implemented as a plug in card 40 for an IP call controller 42 that accepts plug in cards. Alternatively, it may be implemented to work with remote IP call controllers 12, 42. In this latter configuration, the gateway may include a router for other IP devices which is designed to give voice quality preference to the telephone handsets over other IP devices.
