Patent number: 6792243Abstract: The present invention is directed to a book device corresponding to at least one narrative story, including a spine, at least three pages pivotably connected to the spine, a sound producing apparatus, and a plurality of switch elements which activate the sound producing apparatus to play desired audio segments corresponding to a particular story element. Each of the pages contains illustrative material, such as text and/or pictures, and at least one of the pages is partially transparent, so that illustrative material on subsequent pages is visible to the reader through the transparent portion of the page. In another embodiment, the illustrative material is not affixed to the pages themselves, but takes the form of inserts which may be removed and interchanged, with the book device able to determine which story corresponds to the particular inserts being used and play the desired audio segments corresponding to that story.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2000Date of Patent: September 14, 2004Assignee: VTech Electronics LimitedInventors: Chi Chow Ka-wah, Frederick Tsang Lam-tak

Patent number: 6715623Abstract: A collapsible shelving display is preferably fabricated, at least in part, from corrugated paperboard. Side wall assemblies are hingedly connected to a back wall to form a stand. The stand includes foldable shelf support members that are formed from portions cut from the back wall and partially cut from inner panels of the side wall assemblies. Shelves are pivotably attached to the back wall, and swingable between positions substantially parallel to the back wall to positions oblique or perpendicular to the back wall.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2002Date of Patent: April 6, 2004Assignee: Stone Container CorporationInventor: John Quintin Broerman

Patent number: 6715525Abstract: A separation device for a motor vehicle, with a flexible flat shaped article, which is held on a winding shaft located in a box housing between a rolled-in rest position and a pulled-out protective position which is rigidly connected to the vehicle with holding devices, in a manner so it can be rolled in and rolled out, where a return spring arrangement applies pressure in the roll-in direction onto the winding shaft. According to the invention, the return spring arrangement is formed by a series or parallel connection of a stronger wound spring and a weaker convenience spring, where the switching is designed in such a manner that, between the rolled-up rest position and a first pull-out position, the stronger roll-up force is applied, and, from the first pull-out position on, for a limited time, a smaller roll-up force is applied, for the transfer into the suspended protective position, and in that the wound spring is associated with a damping element.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2001Date of Patent: April 6, 2004Assignee: BOS GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Marina Ehrenberger, Werner P. Schlecht, Holger Seel

Patent number: 6711784Abstract: A handle conversion device for facilitating movement of a wheeled object which includes a preexisting handle with a grip member having a longitudinal axis positioned in a plane substantially perpendicular to a desired direction of movement. The handle conversion device includes a hand grip, a neck and an attachment portion. The hand grip includes a longitudinal axis orientated substantially perpendicular to the plane occupied by the grip member of the preexisting handle, and substantially within the plane defined by the forward and rearward movement of the wheeled object. The attachment portion includes a hook member and a retention member which, in combination, act to releasably retain the grip member of the preexisting handle, to controllably maintain the substantially perpendicular relationship of the hand grip for the handle conversion device to the preexisting handle.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2001Date of Patent: March 30, 2004Assignee: JelmarInventor: Morris W. Patent number: 6695206Abstract: A method for remote verification in which a first party at a first telephone confirms their identity to a second person at a second telephone. The fingerprint of the first person is read and compared to a stored fingerprint pattern. If the stored and sensor fingerprint patterns match, the first telephone transmits a signal to the second telephone which controls a display on the second telephone to display an image of the first person.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2002Date of Patent: February 24, 2004Assignee: Personal Biometric Encoders Ltd.Inventor: William Leslie Ross

Patent number: 6673060Abstract: The present invention is directed to a drainage catheter including an elongated hollow drainage tube having a proximal end, a distal end, a tip, a flexible region adjacent the tip, a filament routing channel, a hub associated with the proximal end of the elongated hollow drainage tube, and a filament member associated with the flexible tip for altering the shape of the flexible tip to facilitate retention of the drainage tube in a patient's body. The filament member is slidably positioned within the filament routing member in the distal end of the drainage tube to permit removal of same from the catheter. The filament member exits the catheter through the hub, which further includes at least one filament member passageway. The filament member passageways enable slidable movement of the filament member therein, while also maintaining a liquid tight seal from leakage through the hub.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2000Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: Manan Medical Products, Inc.Inventor: James A. Fleming, III
