    Abstract: A method and assembly of providing a building or other location with an optical fibre ribbon cable having a plurality of optical fibres terminated by a connector is provided. The method and assembly enable optical fibre ribbon cables to be terminated in a factory rather than on site, and then to be installed by blown fibre methods, even when the ribbon cable is terminated by connectors that are too large to be inserted in the duct. The assembly includes an optical fibre ribbon cable having a plurality of optical fibres, a unitary insert for a connector that terminates at least one end of the cable, and a housing for the connector which can be located about the insert to form a composite connector. The optical fibre ribbon cable as thus terminated is capable of being propelled along a duct by fluid drag of a gaseous medium.

    Abstract: The device proposed is designed to weld together at least two parts (1, 2) using arc-welding or resistance-welding, in particular pressure arc-welding, techniques. An arc is struck across a gap between the two parts (1 and 2), thus causing them to melt. In oder to ensure a very precisely defined vertical gap between the parts, the second part (2) is first placed on the first. The final position, determined by a program-control unit (12), is measured by means of a travel-measurement instrument (10). Starting from this "zero position", the bolt is lifted through a freely programmable distance and the main welding current activated. On expiry of the prescribed period of time, the bolt on the second part (2) is moved towards the first part (1), this movement also being carried out under program control.

    Abstract: This invention provides a voltage control oscillator that can reduce swing width and more precisely can control a period of the oscillator by applying a back bias voltage to a back bias terminal of a transistor so that an output pulse of the oscillator is controlled. The present invention comprises a plurality of inverters which are connected to each other in the form of a chain, each inverter having a pull up device and a pull down device; a first control block connected to a bulk of each pull up device to supply a desired voltage to said bulk so that threshold voltage of each pull up device is controlled; and a second control block connected to a bulk of each pull down device to supply a desired voltage to said bulk of each pull down device so that threshold voltage of each pull down device is controlled. The present invention can precisely control the oscillator since variation width of the period is small and can minimize a circuit without addition of a buffer since swing width is constant.

    Abstract: An electrostatic discharge (ESD) protective circuit for reducing the electron-tunneling phenomena in NMOS devices. Several complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) devices act as an ESD protective circuit from being destroyed. The CMOS devices are connected to an internal circuit and a power line provide a bias voltage for the devices. The drains of the CMOS devices are connected to a pad to output a driving current. A NMOS device is connected between the internal circuit and the ESD protective circuit for protecting the NMOS devices in the circuit. As an ESD pulse is input into the ESD protective circuit, the NMOS device is then turned on by the pulse. Thus, positive charges on the gate of the NMOS devices in the ESD circuit is conducted into ground. Therefore, the NMOS device between the internal circuit and the ESD circuit can prevent the gate oxide of the NMOS device in the circuit from damage.

The semiconductor device has an etch barrier structure, made with SiN or SiON, which is formed on an element-isolating region alongside an active region. Although there is an alignment error which causes the element-isolating region to be exposed, the etch barrier structure protects the element-isolating region from being etched when carrying out the etching processes for contact holes in a semiconductor memory cell. Thus, while preventing the deterioration of element-isolation properties, the etch barrier structure can affords a larger allowable alignment error in the etching processes for contact holes, so it is possible to make a small active region and thus, highly integrate semiconductor devices.
