Abstract: A light device includes a body having a light source and electrical contacts that plug into a first electrical outlet of a duplex receptacle and receive power therefrom. An outlet cover mounted for pivotal motion with respect to the body about at a pivot axis, which is substantially proximate to a region between the first outlet and a second outlet of the receptacle. The outlet cover pivots away from the body and towards the duplex receptacle to inhibit access to the second electrical outlet.

Abstract: An intrinsically safe battery powered device (100) includes a housing (102), a battery receiving region (104), an intrinsically safe power supply (108, 110), and device electrical circuitry (112). The power supply (108, 110) uses energy from batteries (106) received in the batter receiving region (104) of the device (100) to power the circuitry (112). In one implementation, the power supply includes an intrinsically safe charge pump circuit.
Abstract: An auxiliary power supply (150) includes an auxiliary battery (152), power supply circuitry (154), and a connector (108b). The power supply circuitry (154) supplies an output which provides electrical energy for powering the electrical circuitry (102) of a battery powered device (100) and for recharging a battery (104) associated therewith. In one embodiment, the power supply circuitry (154) supplies an output current which is a function of the charge state of the auxiliary battery (152) and a load current presented by the electrical circuitry (102).
Abstract: The present invention provides a lighting device having a light housing including a light source being rotatably connected by a rotatable connection means to a lighting device body, said body having said rotatable connection means positioned so as to allow said light housing to lay adjacent said body and to define therebetween a narrow space which is accessible in a base to top direction. The present invention also provides a light housing for a lighting device, said light housing including a light source holder at one end thereof, said light housing also including means to receive a mounting member at one end of said light housing opposite to said light source holder, said light housing being characterised by said light source holder allowing limited pivotal movement of said light source when said light source is mounted in said light source holder, said limited pivotal movement being in the range of 5° to 30°.

Abstract: A battery powered device comprising a housing having a battery compartment apparatus disposed therein, with the battery compartment apparatus being configured to accept at least one battery. The battery compartment apparatus comprises a battery carrier and a locking hold down mechanism. The carrier is slidably mounted in the housing. The locking hold down mechanism responds to insertion and withdrawal of the carrier into and out of the housing by locking the locking hold down mechanism against the battery, thereby preventing undesired displacement of the battery within the housing.
Abstract: A headlamp lighting device is provided that allows for the adjustment of the size of the light beam and forward heat dissipation. The lighting device includes a housing, a light source provided on the housing for generating a light beam, and an optical focus lens disposed in the path of the light beam for focusing the light beam. The lighting device also includes a lens ring supporting the optical focus lens to move the focus lens relative to the light source to adjust size of the light beam. The lens ring also serves as an outer heat sink in thermal conductive relationship with an inner heat sink.
Abstract: A portable lighting device, such as a flashlight, having a rotatable band disposed around the exterior of the flashlight is disclosed. Rotational movement of the band is converted to lateral movement of the light emitting element within the flashlight. The structural integrity of the flashlight is not compromised when the rotatable band is rotated around the flashlight to adjust the width of the projected pattern of light.
