  • Patent number: 8347784
Abstract: A towable trailored standing tree baler provides independent maneuverability with sufficient structural strength required for baling large trees. A telescopic wheeled frame provides ground support directly underneath a tree branch compression ring and therefore provides a strong structural foundation for pushing the ring upward. The support wheels of the frame can be both steered and tilted so that the apparatus can be centered on the tree even on uneven ground. A compression ring lifting boom utilizes an interconnecting rotation arm between the end of the boom and the compression ring so that the ring may be positioned at a very low starting point close to the ground and then moved accurately upwardly with the circumference of the ring being held level and centered. A specialized lining material on the ring reduces friction against the tree limb bark and therefore reduces tree limb damage.

  • Patent number: 8329125
Abstract: Recirculation of treated flue gas either independently or as a substitute for ambient air at specific points of ingress in a flue gas treatment system is provided to stabilize approach temperature and related parameters such as reagent consumption and pollution admission rate preventing both the accumulation of particulate matter and excessive corrosion associated with ambient air ingress. This recirculation provides a desired turbulence within remote regions of the flue gas treatment system to reduce the amount of particulate matter that may otherwise settle and accumulate in the absorber vessel or other areas of the system thereby causing particulate matter to be conveyed to the particulate removal device.

  • Patent number: 8328970
Abstract: A drywall patch is coated with a premeasured amount of joint compound in its wet state making it immediately available for application to a wall surface. The patch with compound is sealed in an airtight wrapper or between unsealed wrapper halves which are in turn sealed in a surrounding airtight package so that the joint compound stays moist and will not harden over time. The wrapper includes a peel-away adhesive dry patch. In use, the dry patch is first applied over a crack or hole to be repaired. The wrapper and compound are applied directly over the dry patch and, while the wrapper remains in place, pressure is applied to smooth the compound over the patch and removed after the compound has dried. The wrapper is preferably composed of microporous breathable plastic film.

  • Patent number: 8297899
Abstract: A clinch-type fastener is formed by simultaneously creating an undercut during the same forging that creates the head and displacer of the fastener. A fastener blank is compressed end-to-end between top and bottom dies whereby the axial compression of a blank causes the outward bulging of the shank at its midline. Simultaneously, a tapered end point and a tangential interference band are formed provided by a curvilinear-shaped bulge in the shank. As the bulge is formed an undercut is created between the bulge and a shoulder which extends downwardly from a head of the fastener. This method of formation and the fastener produced thereby are particularly suited to the manufacture of small clinch pins having a diameter in the range of 1.0 mm.

  • Patent number: 8161616
Abstract: A captive panel fastener is manufactured by first overmolding a plastic cap around the head of a screw, the cap having a cylindrical plastic skirt extending downwardly beyond the base of the screw head and formed with a circular opening at the bottom. After a compression spring is placed around the shank of the screw, the screw is pressed against a top surface of a ferrule to a point where the capped-skirt extends downwardly below a ferrule flange. At that point, heat and pressure are applied radially inwardly around the periphery of the plastic skirt along its bottom edge until it is permanently deformed to a point where the bottom of the skirt is smaller in diameter than the ferrule flange. The screw is thereby captivated to the ferrule between extended and retracted positions.

  • Patent number: 8144470
Abstract: A fastening system for a heat sink mounted on a circuit board utilizes a self-clinching stud assembly constructed by axially interfitting two flat sheet metal members. Each member has forked ends which when axially plugged together in criss-cross fashion create a unified fastener with side structures that can permanently clinch into a heat sink. After attachment to the heat sink, the stud presents two opposite attachment ends with tines which extend from the top and bottom of the heat sink. As finally assembled, a fan attaches to the top end of the studs above the heat sink while the opposite end of the stud which extends from the bottom of the heat sink passes through the circuit board to attach to a retaining leaf spring which presses against the back side of the board. Thus, all of the components are joined by a single stud.

  • Patent number: 8127480
Abstract: A magazine well extension for a firearm having a magazine well and a trigger guard consists of a tapered monolithic hollow extension body closely matched to the magazine well opening. The bottom opening is larger than the top opening to more loosely receive the magazine for easier insertion. The extension is attached to the magazine well opening by upward facing rails on opposite sides at the top of the extension body which are matingly received by complimentary slots in the bottom of the magazine well. A second attachment point located at the rear of the extension includes a yoke which retains a laterally slidable captive pin that engages an outwardly extending tang on the trigger guard of the firearm. A forwardly extending lip at the front of the magazine well engages a groove on the inside wall of the extension to vertically support the extension at the front.

  • Patent number: 7747563
Abstract: A method of data migration and integration with a data load mechanism. The first primary step is to extract the data from a named source by remote queries. The follow-up logic is used for any miscellaneous or supplemental transformations to inbound data for data renaming, null scrubbing, and data polishing. The filtration step allows for any extraneous data to be filtered out. The compression step consolidates any fragmented balances residual in the remote queries, localize remote data, data map, or follow-up logic. As a part of the compression process, the result set table signature is explicitly cast to that of the destination fact table. The result of this is an exact replica of the destination fact table format, data types and column order. The kickout handling provides referential integrity of the inbound data flow against the named BPM Destination System. Finally, the deployment step limits the dynamic reload or sync determination to certain fields.

  • Patent number: 7631532
Abstract: A process for cold forging a metal fastener such as a self-clinching standoff includes a punch and die set at the final head trimming station which produces the shear burr only on the underside of the fastener head where it is not visible after installation. A knock-out pin which is reciprocal within the bore of the punch forcibly ejects the fastener through a passage in the die to a point beyond an opposite side of the die. A stripper sleeve which is reciprocal about the outside surface of the punch then moves from a retracted position over the end of the punch pushing a residual scrap ring from around the outside of the punch.
