  • Patent number: 5144172
Abstract: A circuit for detecting the current in an MOS type power transistor comprises a detection transistor (T2) connected with its drain and gate in common to the power transistor (T1) and having characteristics such that the current flowing through it is equal to a fraction of the current (I1) flowing through the power transistor (T1). Downstream from the detection transistor (T2) is a comparison transistor (T6, T13) for comparing a first current (I3), which is equal to a fraction of the current flowing through the detection transistor, with a second or reference current (Ig1) having a pre-set value. The comparison transistor (T6, T13) produces a detection signal of the value of the current in the power transistor (I1) in relation to the difference between the first current (I3) and the reference current (Ig1).

  • Patent number: 5143159
Abstract: A tractor-mounted three-point hitch for pulling a tillage implement is controlled by a closed loop including draft sensors for sensing the draft on the hitch and providing a draft feedback signal. An operator-controlled quadrant lever provides command signals for commanding the positioning of the hitch relative to the ground. During rapid hitch movement commanded by movement of the quadrant lever while the implement is above the ground, the draft feedback signal, which is normally filtered to eliminate frequencies above about 3.2 Hz, is more heavily filtered to eliminate frequencies above 0.5 Hz. This makes the loop less sensitive to the draft feedback signal and reduces vibrations which would otherwise occur because of oscillations in the draft feedback signal. The oscillations are caused by interaction of the weight of the implement bouncing because of the pneumatic tires on the tractor, and movement of the hitch to correct for the apparent change in draft.

  • Patent number: 5144659
Abstract: The invention is a system for protecting the security of computer files. It has hardware elements, including a programmable auxiliary memory and control unit along with associated software elements. The security subsystem is installed on the host computer bus so that it resides in the control logic, address, and data signal path between the computer storage device and central processing unit. The security system is accessible by the computer operating system only during installation and initialization. Thereafter it is inaccessible to or by the operating system. Supervisor determined criteria for access permission to read, write and execute files are entered into the auxiliary memory system where they are protected from alteration. The security system will deny access to users with invalid entry criteria and refuse to write data to the file storage device when unauthorized operations have been attempted.

  • Patent number: 5140307
Abstract: This arrangement enables the identification of a plurality of vehicles (4) and determination of the instant of their passing over a reference line (30). It includes a moving station (1) mounted on the vehicle and a fixed station (2) arranged alongside a racetrack (3). The fixed station broadcasts a low-frequency synchronization signal of period T which is received by the moving station, the latter in turn broadcasting a series of signals of duration Tn located in a predetermined rank relative to the time t.sub.o marking each start of period T. Conjointly the moving station allocates an identification code peculiar to a given moving object to each signal Tn. The signals received by the fixed station are stored in a memory which for each signal memorizes its absolute time, its association with a given vehicle and its amplitude. The arrangement is used for motor vehicle races which include a large number of competitors.

  • Patent number: 5137294
Abstract: A folding step apparatus (38) is provided for vehicles having either a hinged door (26) or a sliding door (26'). The apparatus includes two parallel step supporting members (44) pivotally attached to the underside of the vehicle for adjustably supporting a step (42) or plurality of steps. A spring member (46) is used to bias the supporting members (44) and attached steps to a retracted position beneath the vehicle. A cable (64) has a first end attached to the locking end of the door and a second end attached to a front one of the supporting members (44). The cable is at least partially disposed within a hollow cord (70) which extends through portions of the vehicle frame. Opening the vehicle door causes the folding step assembly (38) to pivot about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal horizontal axis (36) of the vehicle, thereby extending the step assembly (38) for facilitating easy boarding of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5137756
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for carrying out a varnish impregnation method wherein a sheet-like base material is sequentially passed through a low-viscosity liquid storage region storing a low-viscosity liquid such as a solvent, a thermal syphon region, and a varnish storage region storing a varnish, the thermal syphon region being positioned between the low-viscosity liquid storage region and varnish storage region and communicating with both regions at air tight seals closed by liquid surfaces, and heating the base material in the thermal syphon region to vaporize the low-viscosity liquid impregnated in the base material. When the base material passes through the low-viscosity liquid, air contained in the base material is replaced with the low-viscosity liquid and discharged outside the apparatus. The low-viscosity liquid impregnated in the material is vaporized in the thermal syphon region.

  • Patent number: 5136482
Abstract: First and second reflectors are mounted in a housing covered by a light transmissive shield. The first reflector reflects substantially parallel light beams in a light exiting direction from its bulb while the second reflector is somewhat elliptically shaped and is built as a fixed optical unit with a frame which holds a collecting lens in a light beam path and a blinder, or light-blocking shield, between the second reflector and collecting lens approximately at a focus point of the collecting lens. A separate supporting member is fastened to an outer framing portion of the second reflector and has a portion extending to an apex area of the first reflector. This portion is both a receiving element for the bulb of the first reflector and a mounting element of the first reflector. Further, the separate supporting member is attached to the housing to be adjustable about at least one axis.

  • Patent number: 5136283
Abstract: This race timing apparatus of the video finish type includes a photo sensitive CCD bar (5) which may be read at a predetermined frequency in correspondence with the run past speed (Vi) of the image of the race. The images are stored and visualized by means of a commercial recorder (22) and monitor (23) of a fixed standardized sweep frequency. Since the image acquisition frequency by the bar is not synchronous with the visualization frequency, one proceeds with the generation of image parts using buffer memories (19, 20), the image parts being next stored in an image memory (21) and then read in a discontinuous manner by jumping over image parts in synchronism with a standard TV sweep. The apparatus enables the offering of a system at a low overall cost price since it employs a recorder and a monitor currently obtainable on the market.

  • Patent number: 5132996
Abstract: A linear detector selectively detects successive line images from different angles while the linear detector and a radiation source are rotated about a patient. Radiation-transmission images are generated and detected and converted to computer-grabbed images by a computer which acquires, processes, stores and reconstructs the images. A visual monitor display reconstructs video images including a planar image and tomographic images representing sections orthogonal to the planar image. Selectively-positionable field-delineating lines corresponding to intersectional outlines between a simulation beam and the planar image are overlaid on the planar image. Beam-delineating lines are updated by the computer to correspond to intersectional outlines as the field-delineating lines are positioned.
