  • Patent number: 6750959
Abstract: A method and apparatus enabling the placement of a mark on a lens at a desired position, easily and rapidly, without damaging the lens. The method comprising (1) the step of measuring a lens in which the optical properties and the reference position of the spectacle lens are measured and (2) the step of processing in which the lens is processed based on the optical information obtained in the step of measuring a lens. In the step of measuring a lens, the optical properties of the lens, such as the prism value, are measured using a desirable position selected as on the uncut lens as the position of measurement. An an optical reference position, such as the optical center, is calculated, a guiding mark is placed at the calculated position the relationship between the mark and the optical reference position is used in subsequent cut processing.

  • Patent number: 6733735
Abstract: A system for reducing the temperature of exhaust gas in an incinerator or boiler equipment having an exceedingly small size and avoiding any difficulties caused by damage to the wall surface of a gas cooling chamber due to adherence of sprayed water droplets and deposition of dust. More specifically, pressurized thermal water with a temperature higher than a boiling point of water under atmospheric pressure is sprayed as temperature reduction water into high temperature exhaust gas Gh in a gas cooling chamber or an exhaust gas duct. The temperature reduction of exhaust gas and the removal of acidic gas in the exhaust gas are simultaneously achieved by spraying pressurized thermal water Wt containing an alkaline solution as temperature reduction water into high temperature exhaust gas Gh in the gas cooling chamber or the exhaust gas duct.

  • Patent number: 6723381
Abstract: An organic silicon polymer is infiltrated and charged into gaps in a matrix phase of a formed fiber fabric, and its airtightness is increased by (a) CVI infiltration process 2 for forming the SIC matrix phase on the surface of the fiber fabric formed, (b) pressurized infiltrations process 4 for pressurizing the organic silicon polymer in the direction operating pressure is applied to the fiber fabric during use and infiltrating the organic silicon polymer into gaps in the aforementioned matrix phase, and (c) heating process 5 for heating the infiltrated fiber fabric at a high temperature. Thus, airtightness can be increased quickly, and fired work can be applied practically even to thrust chambers etc.

  • Patent number: 6722174
Abstract: According to an apparatus and a method for manufacturing a hot-rolled steel plate, a roughing process for reducing a thickness of a continuously cast slab is performed to obtain a sheet bar, and a finishing rolling process for rolling the sheet bar is effected to produce a hot-rolled steel plate having a predetermined plate thickness. After cooling down, the hot-rolled steel plate is then wound. A pair of dies 6 each of which has a tapered portion 6b on an input side and a parallel portion 6b on an output side are used in at least part of the roughing process. Further, before performing plate thickness pressing to a material in a plate thickness direction by using the dies 6, at least one of a front end and a rear end of the material is pressed in a widthwise direction to be pre-formed.

  • Patent number: 6697186
Abstract: A THz-wave generator according to the present invention includes a nonlinear optical crystal 1 capable of parametric generation, a first laser device 12 for injecting a single-frequency first laser beam 7 as a pump wave into the nonlinear optical crystal, and a second laser device 14 for injecting a different single-frequency second laser beam 8 to thereby injection-seed a second laser beam 8 in a direction in which an idler wave is generated by the pump wave. By this configuration, it is possible, in generation of a THz-wave by use of the parametric effect in the nonlinear optical crystal under a non-collinear phase matching condition, to greatly increase a power of the THz-wave, to narrow its spectrum width, to make variable the wavelength of a generated THz-wave, and to hold its generation direction almost constant.

  • Patent number: 6685096
Abstract: Transponder (2) associated with a communication system for various different applications having different security levels. This transponder includes means (18, 26, 40, R) allowing the maximum communication distance between the transponder and a reader (4) to be varied as a function of the application selected or activated. A code, which determines the opening or closing of the switch (40) is associated with each application. In a first group of embodiments, the equivalent impedance of the electronic unit associated with the antenna (6) is varied, whereas in another embodiment, the electric characteristics of the antenna itself are varied.

  • Patent number: 6683985
Abstract: A principle curvature of a target curved surface S′ and a principle curvature of a corresponding position of a reference surface S are obtained and each part is displayed by being classified into (a) a case where two principle curvatures increase, (b) a case where two principle curvatures decrease, and (c) a case where one of the principle curvatures increases and the other decreases from the difference between the principle curvatures. (a), (b), and (c) are determined as mountain, valley, and twist, respectively, and are displayed in different symbols or colors on an image. Consequently, a different part between two three-dimensional shapes can be accurately grasped, the cause of the occurrence of the error such as a partial curve or the like can be easily found, how much the shapes coincide with each other as a whole can be indicated by an objective numerical value, and the error can be easily determined even if the reference shape is complicated.
