  • Patent number: 6081316
Abstract: A recorded image is distorted on a printing plate when an image information for a computer is recorded in the form of a band with a band width of a plurality of image elements on a printing plate wound around a drum. This invention provides an undistorted recording on the printing plate, made possible by an arrangement that has a printing plate wound around a drum in the form of a right circular cylinder, an exposure unit that uses a light beam to record image information in the form of a band on the printing plate, a moving mechanism to move the exposure unit by one band width in the direction of the drum axis in relation to the drum while the drum makes a revolution, an image treating apparatus with the image information stored in the form of a right quadrangle, and an image modulator to rearrange and slant each band of image information readout from said image treatment apparatus by one band width in the opposite direction to the movement of said moving mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6081483
Abstract: A date movement for a clockwork movement including a member (8) for indicating the tens having four positions carrying a scale from <<zero>> to <<three>> or from <<one>> to <<three>> plus a blank, provided for effecting one step every ten days, and a member (10) for indicating the units arranged for effecting one step per day, characterised in that the units indicator member (10) can occupy thirty one positions and carries three successive scales from <<zero>> to <<nine>>, one of the three scales, called the modified scale, having an additional <<one>> inserted between its <<zero>> and its <<one>>.

  • Patent number: 6076464
Abstract: A system for making printing plates for newspaper, which can make, with great efficiency, replacement printing plates to be used when a printing face of the printing plate mounted on the plate cylinder of the rotary press is to be changed in part. The plate-making system is built by linearly arranging in series a plate feeder 2, an exposure unit 3, and a developer 5 so that the exposure unit 3 may directly form images on the printing faces of a plate material 12 in accordance with image drawing signals from a computer to make a printing plate P large enough for at least several pages.

  • Patent number: 6075308
Abstract: A variably sound-absorbing device comprises a piezoelectric material 32 the peripheral portion of which is fixed to a frame 31 or the like, at least one pair of electrodes 34 formed on opposite surfaces of the piezoelectric material, and at least one circuit element 36 through which the electrodes are connected to each other. The piezoelectric material 32 is boardlike and curved, and an electrical characteristic of the circuit element 36 (a circuit showing a negative capacitance for example) is variable. The modulus of elasticity (the real number part of the modulus of elasticity) and the loss factor (the imaginary number part of the modulus of elasticity) of the piezoelectric material are thereby varied and the sound-absorbing characteristic is electrically varied to a considerable extent.

  • Patent number: 6067276
Abstract: An automatic, accurate and inexpensive timing bench, able to be purchased and used by any amateur. The bench consists of a conventional chronograph wristwatch (2) and a control box (1) provided with a housing (12) for the chronograph and a transparent cover (17). The box (1) further includes input ports, for receiving electric signals originating from timing cells, and electromagnets (51, 52) for automatically pressing the push buttons (8, 9) of the chronograph as a function of said input signals. As a result of auxiliary electric ports on each box, several of these boxes can be coupled in cascade to form a more complex timing bench.

  • Patent number: 6066018
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a plurality of electro-optic cells is disclosed, in particular for manufacturing liquid crystal display cells (2) or photovoltaic cells, each cell including a cavity (5) filled with a liquid and defined by sealed partitions (8, 9) between two plates (3, 4), in particular made of glass, provided with electrodes within the cavity. In a first step, a batch of cells (2) is manufactured, whose cavities are filled with the desired liquid and sealed. In a second step, the external contour (20) of each cell is cut, and if necessary a hole (10) passing through the cell, by means of a very high pressure water jet (30), the water either being loaded or not with an abrasive agent. Thus, the external layers (25, 26) such as a polarizer and a reflector may be applied onto the batch prior to the cutting step.
