    Abstract: A manipulative toy is provided comprising a body and a plurality of interchangeable appendages, such as arms, legs, heads, tails and wings, removably attachable to the body at certain predefined coupling points using complementary magnetic elements disposed within both the appendages and the body. The appendages are retained in place by the interaction between two sets of complementary ribbed elements disposed on both the body and the appendages about the magnetic elements, which complementary ribbed elements are formed in a beveled configuration. The configuration of these ribbed elements, in combination with attractive force of the complementary magnetic elements and the frictional engagement of the complementary ribs, limits the appendages from moving rotationally about the point of attachment, and limits the movement of the appendage in the plane of the point of attachment, thereby allowing the manipulative toy to be posed by a user and retain its position.

    Abstract: A variably proportional mixing device is provided for automatically mixing two fluids stored in separate containers in various ratios without measuring, comprising a self-venting spout that attaches to an existing gas can or other container for storing a fluid having a threaded opening therein. The spout doses gas with oil at the specific ratio required by an engine manufacturer and is easily adjusted to accommodate a plurality of other ratios. To accomplish this, a constant volume of gasoline is dosed with an amount of oil that is adjusted by the user. This adjustment mechanism comprises a wheel valve having various-sized orifices. Twisting the valve using a knob or key then provides the correct volumetric area for the oil to flow through. Markings will be visible on the valve, through a window, that correspond to a plurality of different ratios, typically ranging from 16:1 to 50:1. The dosing valve can also be shut-off completely to allow pure gasoline through the spout, such as for 4 cycle engines.

In the preferred embodiment, the means for controlling comprises a trigger operated flow control cylinder which controls the flow of fluid from the first container and the second container, and a ratio cylinder including a channel therethrough having a variable cross-sectional area, the rotation of which using the selecting means varies the flow rate of the fluid from the second container into the flow of fluid from the first container. A static mixer is provided for mixing the two fluids in the spout of the device.

    Abstract: A device for measuring anode tube current or filament current in an X-ray tube, comprising a coil of wire wrapped around an insulating tube to generate a solenoidal magnetic field, one or more pieces of magnetic material and insulating material located within the tube (which magnetic elements may have their electrical potential stabilized by a resistive voltage divider), and a Hall Effect current sensor (HECS) located at the far end of the tube and insulated from the magnetic material. The output of the Hall Effects sensor is connected to an amplifier circuit, and a secondary coil of wire is used to capture the high frequency component of the magnetic signal. The secondary coil is connected to a current amplifier circuit which is followed by a high pass filter to only provide components above the cross over frequency of the hall sensor. The two signals are combined with an amplifier to provide a broad band signal that may be viewed by a current amplifier.

    Abstract: An ionizing particulate scrubber is provided for the removal of particulate from a gaseous exhaust stream, said scrubber including two sections: a charging section and a collection section. The charging or ionizing section includes one or more cylindrical tubular ground chambers each with a rigid threaded rod electrode extending through the center thereof. A transformer/rectifier (T/R) is provided to supply high voltage DC power to the electrode such that the cylindrical tubular ground chambers act as the ground to enable a corona to form on the threaded rod electrode. As the gas stream passes through the current flowing from the electrode to the cylindrical tubular ground chambers walls, the particulate contained within the stream is electrostatically charged. The collection system includes either a fixed or fluid bed packed section which is constantly irrigated from above. Ground rods in the packing and liquid sump allow the entire section to act as a grounded collector for the charged particulate.

Alignment grooves may be provided at opposite ends of the carrier to facilitate proper alignment of the carrier on the wall. Affixation means in the form of either a nail or adhesive mounts are provided for affixing the carrier to the wall. A leveling device, preferably a bubble level, may be included in the carrier. A companion method for hanging the picture or other wall object on a wall using the subject fastening device is further provided.

In one embodiment, the disc-shaped media is first placed within a protective envelope, which envelope is then inserted into or applied to the recess and retained therein. Various means for retaining the envelope in or on the recess are contemplated, including adhesives such as fugitive glue or double-side tape, or sealing members. In an alternate embodiment, the protective envelope is not necessary, and the disc-shaped media is inserted in or applied to the recess and held therein by the same retaining means.

In the preferred embodiment, the cross-sectional area is in a cross (“+”) shape, although other shapes are anticipated, including a “Y” shape as well as a star shape having five or more fins (e.g., “*”). In this embodiment, the end of the skewer is tapered or beveled to allow for the easy insertion of the skewer into the fruit or other object, and the fins are chamfered. At least one projection is provided along the length of the skewer, the projection being provided so as to prevent the item through which the skewer is being inserted from sliding too far down the length of the skewer.

    Abstract: A protective cover for eyeglasses is provided comprising a pair of complementary tubular members that are fitted over the temples of a pair of glasses, each tubular member having sufficient material or elasticity to stretch to completely cover the lenses of the eyeglasses and a means to fit snugly around the temples. A fixed retaining member is attached to one end of the tubular member and a one or more strips are attached about the opposite end of the tubular member, which end is intended to be stretched over the lenses. A sliding retaining member is also provided on the tubular member and is retained thereon by means of the fixed retaining member and the strips. In operation, the tubular member is retained on the temples by twisting the tubular member about the temple, using the fixed retaining member at one end and the combination of the strips and the sliding retaining member at the other end to frictionally engage the temple and prevent the tubular member from unravelling.
