  • Patent number: 4838832
Abstract: There is provided a tooth system for the static transmission of a torque between two machine components coaxially disposed in one another, e.g. a shaft and a hub, in which the tooth surfaces are straight and are designed with a very large pressure angle and with large tip and root fillet radii. The pressure angle of one component deviating slightly from that of the other component by half the torsion angle so as to overcome backlash. As a result, under load, the tooth surfaces abut over their entire surface. Also, the hubs can be produced with a smaller blanking indentation, in particular in the case of discs made of sheet metal, which increases the bearing capacity, and furthermore this can be done even more precisely, which results in an increase in centering precision and less noise generation during operation.

  • Patent number: 4834692
Abstract: A universal joint for shafting, and more particularly for rolling mills, with a device for suppressing pivoting of the joint is provided. For this purpose there is provided an axially yielding element, preferably in the form of a piston and cylinder unit driven by fluid pressure, in one joint fork. The device includes piston and cylinder unit which acts on an element which is connected with one of the other moving means of the universal joint. This other means can be either a rod secured to the other joint fork or a web-like plate between the bearing eyes of the other joint fork. It is also possible for the other movable member to be in the form of a rod, which acts through the crosspiece of the universal joint on a mating surface in the other joint fork. If the spherical surface is located on the crosspiece itself, there is then the possibility of preventing the free joint end from flopping downwards while nevertheless being able to pivot in a horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 4832155
Abstract: A power transmission device comprising a rotatably mounted drum for housing a spring mechanism, one end of the spring mechanism being fixed to the interior of the drum, and the other end of the spring mechanism being fixed to a sprocket gear wheels provided on the drum axis. There is also provided a slip clutch adapted to engage the second sprocket gear wheel, a freewheel, connected to the slip clutch, a drive wheel coupled to the freewheel, at least one crank coupled by a drive to the drive wheel for rotating the drive wheel, and a speed control governor coupled to the drum. Cranking of the drive wheel drives the freewheel and then the slip clutch and sprocket gear wheel to wind the spring mechanism, causing the drum to rotate under spring-tension at a speed regulated by the governor so as to provide mechanical power.

  • Patent number: 4808306
Abstract: A magnetic force field generator is provided which is adapted to be mounted onto a conduit for treating fluid flowing through the conduit with a magnetic force field of alternating polarity. The generator includes a non-magnetic housing having a longitudinally extending passage for receiving the conduit and a strap device for securing the housing to the conduit. A unitary magnet is provided which is embedded in the housing and is positioned in the same longitudinal plane as the conduit. The magnet has an odd number of sections of alternating polarity, each adapted to generate a discrete magnetic force field in the conduit as the fluid flows therethrough. When the fluid is a fuel, it is preferred that the most upstream section and the most downstream section of the magnet be each adapted to introduce a south polar magnetic field in the inner area of said conduit.
