Abstract: A shutter design is provided that permits easy, economical adjustments in height. This may be achieved by providing varying heights of rails, by providing adjustable light stop strips, by adjusting the pitch of the louvers, or by a combination of two or more of these methods.

Abstract: A multiple phase winding for an electromotive device comprised of individual phase windings. Each phase winding includes multiple layers of conductors and defines working length portions and interior and exterior end-turn portions, wherein at least one set of end-turn portions defines notches which cut across the height dimension of all the layers of conductors. The notches of different phases intermesh. This geometry promotes low electrical resistance within the phase windings and good conductive heat transfer between the multiple phase winding and the housing of the electromotive device, allowing higher power density from the device.

Abstract: A bicycle, which readily converts to a chair, has front and rear joints to allow the front and rear wheel assemblies of the bicycle to move out of the plane of the bicycle frame to form a substantially U-shaped frame onto which a seat fabric may be stretched to form a sling chair. The fabric may be stowed in a roller tube and may be deployed in a manner similar to that of a retractable window shade. Retractable stands may be deployed under the wheels to provide the legs of the chair.

Abstract: An adjustable dressing wrap made from an elastic, porous, breathable mesh material, mounted on a framework including two substantially vertically-oriented fasteners along its left and right ends, and two substantially horizontally-extending elastic members, wherein the framework is substantially more rigid than the elastic mesh material when it is placed on the patient. The horizontally-extending elastic members may be adjusted by tightening around the body part such that the elastic mesh material may support and maintain the wound dressings in place.

Abstract: A hot mix asphalt batching plant has two separate air handling systems—one for the dryer and another for handling the fugitive dust. These two systems are separate, so that variations in operating conditions for the dryer do not affect the performance of the fugitive air handling system.

Abstract: An oven includes a food chamber with an access door which houses a water evaporator chamber in fluid communication with the food chamber. By sensing the temperature of the water in the evaporator and the dry bulb temperature within the food chamber and by controlling a dry heat source that heats the air and a wet heat source that heats the water, the cook can control both the final food temperature and the degree of browning of the food.

Abstract: A drum is driven by cord ends, which are wrapped onto the drum. The drum sits in a housing with slotted openings which are opposite each other and in a plane which is substantially tangent to the surface of the drum. The cord ends exit the housing through said slotted openings such that, even if both ends of the cord are pulled at the same time, the force is directed so that it does not cause, or minimizes, deflection of the drum.

Abstract: A covering for an architectural opening is made for better closure, especially adjacent to the bottom rail. A movable weight is mounted on the bottom rail, so that the weight shifts to the lower side of the bottom rail when the bottom rail is tilted. A lift cord is mounted to support the bottom rail while being freely movable relative to the bottom rail at least in the front-to-back direction. The weight helps shift the bottom rail into the desired position, and, by being freely movable in the front-to-back direction, the lift cord does not interfere with the motion of the bottom rail.

Abstract: A muscle stretching apparatus comprising a frame with adjustable extremity grips, a fulcrum, adjustable leg braces, and leg support assemblies with padded rollers, lever handles that allow an aide to push upward providing additional stretching assistance. The apparatus further comprises an adjustable frame which comprises lever handles. A human with lower extremities on the fulcrum and arm extremities on the extremity grips, by a combination of pushing, pulling, or pushing and pulling, can accomplish a variety of stretching exercises.

Abstract: A shaft support for vertical blinds wherein a swing arm automatically extends to span the head rail space in order to support the cords and tilt rod in the head rail as the carrier assembly retracts to open the blind. This swing arm automatically stows away along the head rail when the carrier assembly extends to close the blind so as not to interfere with the motion of the carrier assembly. The automatic operation of this shaft support is such that the mechanism is self correcting in the event that it is installed incorrectly or that it is accidentally moved to an incorrect position during operation.
